Thank god I can finally log back in. I thought I'd lost my account. It's not till you think you've lost something that you realise what a big part of your life this place is.
didnt realise of reliant of Bit-tech i was till it went down.... started to panic! I must visit the forums about 4-5 times a day if im not busy.
As far as I'm concerned nothing has changed apart from new owners Actually that's not strictly true - I'm encouraged from conversations I've had so far for the future of the site and I'm hoping it will get the work it needs that Dennis Publishing has been unwilling/unable to do since we all went freelance. They're only small changes as most of you know but they would make a big difference but the future is definitely bright.
Hello All, Well, a few questions here and there so apologies for the long post... I'll answer what seem to be the FAQs: 1. Is bit-tech still part of Dennis Publishing/ Custom PC - No. We'll still promote Custom PC subs as it as awesome magazine, but that is as far as our relationship stretches outside of the odd beer at events etc. We're still all friends. We'll continue sending each other Xmas cards. 2. Problems on site/ Tapatalk etc - There are several great things about bit-tech. There are also several things that need 'improving'. We have a very thorough list we're going through that is longer than a receipt on 'Extreme Couponing' - please do bear with us, it's all to make the site better for you. 3. Advertising - We have removed what we view as obtrusive advertising or advertising that is not relevant to what you guys are interested in. But advertising is the main (pretty much only!) source of revenue on any free-to-use website so please do support us by showing our partners and sponsors some love. 4. Are we getting rid of editors? - Nope, same guys, with more to come. We want to focus on more content for people who love PC building, modding and gaming. We also plan to add more videos, features and competitions to get you cool prizes and encourage more buzz around the site. 5. Is bit-tech merging with Hexus? - No. There are separate editorial teams working on separate editorial calendars. I am the suit at bit-tech and bit-tech only. I have no control over Hexus nor do we plan for that to be the case. And finally... 6. I'm John Pudney. Some of you may have met me at LITS or the Asus Xtreme Global Summit in 2008. I was the guy doing the interviews with those who were filmed. I've worked across lots of tech brands, I spend a lot of time trying to create awesome sites, mags and events and I ride a fairly god-awful bike to work. I'm a coeliac with a dairy-intolerance so I'm not much fun to cook for and I read more comics than Russian literature. I bought a NUC and now I have two running in SLi... (that last bit may not be entirely true). Hopefully, that answers most of the questions. As I say, thanks for your patience whilst we sort through some things. I can't post here as much as I'd like but we will try to keep you in the loop. Here's to the future of bit-tech, I personally am very, very excited John.
Glad to hear BT is out of the hands of Dennis, more of a lurker nowadays but its still the best place to lurk
Nice to be able to log in again. Last night when I wasn't able to, I noticed there were only about 9 members online so figured something was up. Anyway, this is an interesting development. Good luck to the new owners.
I feel quite pleased that I just rep'd the new suit from what appeared to be zero rep to now apparently over 9000 in one go. Yeah, rep system, that needs to be fixed....
And I thought it was my ex that was trying to hack my account... There was plenty of Cheesecake! Well this all sounds promising! - I look forward to this brighter future.
Thanks for the update, John. This sounds really promising, so thanks again for keeping us in the loop. Here's to the future!
