Quick post. Some cleanup of the Aircraft Warning Lights (HDD/Power LEDs).

Cables tidy inside. (I need a better camera.)

Getting started on a weekend of modding.

The outer frame that I've built uses a vinyl material I picked up at the local hardware store. The nice thing is it allows for simple box cutter carving. To keep the look of the mod clean I'm embedding the power/reset switches in the framework under the external foam.

Cut the block out and a lane for the wiring to run through.

Test fit the new switches in place.

Got the new switches all wired up.

And the new switches are ready to go.

And one last easter egg, this little beauty arrived in the mail. There's a new mouse in the house.

Ready to drill some rivets and start sanding & painting.

Tore the case apart this weekend.

    Set everything out for painting.

    Got all my priming done.

Not too bad a job considering my noobicity.

Next step: take a fleet of industrial colors and paint up the insides like an old factory / boiler room.

A quick sneak peek at some of the base color for the 'old factory / boiler room' look for the inside of the case. Will be working on distressing the paint this week. We'll see how she goes.

Was out of town for a few days, but made a bit of progress this weekend. Got the external white painting all completed.

Now has a nice bronze/metal industrial look inside.

With a nice clean white outside to match the architectural model look.

And a shot with the cable management in place. Will still need to do some weathering on the pipes, but I may just install it all first to see how it looks before deciding.

Still need to do some touch ups on the paint and get the acrylic doors & balcony frame installed.

Getting a little work done during the week since I have a few things on the list to do this weekend. Lining up the side panels to attach them back to the frame.

Drilled out some holes in the acrylic.

Originally was going to try and work out some screws, but with the acrylic being so thin I wasn't sure it would work. Brainstorm: rivets!

Fingers crossed they wouldn't crack the acrylic. Fortunately they did not.

Got them screwed down to the frame. Probably will replace the dark screws with some silver ones.

    And voila! One hinged window/door.

The paint isn't bad. Good practice project to do it on as most of the external box is covered up. I'll be happy to get my compressor & spray gun working, then I can order some of that badass HOK paint.

I'll need to snag an airbrush at some point too as I'm expecting my next project to be more elaborate than this one.

If your budget allows, keep Iwata in mind when shopping airbrushes. I have had no problems with HP C plus. :thumb:

Thanks! I'll definitely keep that in mind. A quick peek online and one of the entry models may just be in my price range. Cool!

    Got the new fans installed.

And the guts back in place.

A quick test to make sure the lights work.

And now to figure out where all these lil bits go...

Spent the day stripping down the foam & resetting it. Need to affix things permanently.

Right side is closer than the left. Balconies are glued and ready. Will resume tomorrow.

Did a little re-design work on the front panels. Shooting for more of a commercial foyer. Added a little business sign. Thinking I can add a few on each side. Now to decide which businesses... :D

Here are a bunch of shots. Enjoy!
