I didn't put it in my post, but I always have a first aid kit and emergency kit on hand as long as the car isn't far away; it lives under the passenger seat in a Pelican case. I'm not sure that fits in this thread but I thought I'd mention it. If you think it belongs here and anyone wants me to post the contents I'd be happy to! Kelty. Every time! You may have just spent a chunk of next month's pay for me there
Hm, don't have a bag out of work. Just wallet, phone and keys. My work bag however: Karrimor SF Sabre 35 bag in black Big leather folder full of documentation, ticket books, leaflets, pens, ruler, etc High visibility jacket Lightweight fleece Flat cap First aid kit Resus mouth guard Hella load of latex gloves (purple!) Bandage scissors Spyderco legal carry knife Gerber suspension multi-tool x2 screwdrivers and screws Padlocks, hasps and staple Self tapping screws Mica bypass sheets x2 Plasticuffs Fast-strap leg restraints Evidence bags in all sizes Exhibit labels Needleproof gloves Lightweight 511 gloves Beanie, snood, baseball cap Can't think of anything else, reading it back I've done well to fit it all in a 35 litre bag.
I think a 'What's in your car?' thread would be another great time sink... but I'll let someone else start that one. It could take a while for me to list what lives in my car. It's not going to have as many individual tools as some of you peeps with real jobs, but being a VW camper-van for the family and I it's sure got a lot of useful stuff tucked away in cupboards. IMHO every car should be bright red, be capable of driving at silly speeds, have a tool cupboard, a safe, a fridge, a cooker and two double beds. Just sayin'
I've seen a fair number of people here list a first aid kit in their day-to-day bag. I presume a couple are job related based on the other contents, but I'm curious if many other people normally carry them around, because over here a first aid kit is typically something you find either in the boot of car or under the sink at home. On the other hand, people over here don't really carry backpacks around either, so maybe that has something to do with it.
People are so organized. Bag:Backpack Contents:crap, more crap, even more crap..untill I get round to emptying it in a bin. I imagine some people on here like the cats nerdy alter ego from red dwarf "a condom....cause you never know!"
Left front pocket-wallet, debit card Right front pocket-house keys, B50 string (50lb test) Small coin pocket-two archery thumb rings (long lip and short lip) If going out for a walk in the woods/stumping: Field point kit (six graduated sizes) No fewer than four arrows, preferably six Spare bowstring Skinning knife (just in case, snake skins sell very well) Snakebite kit Powerade or some other drink with calories Something to eat for low blood sugar One of my bows-depends on weather I'm making myself a new quiver to hold a bit more than my current quiver, which holds in real life sweet **** all nothing. Something with a spot for my shortest bow and a canteen would be nice. You will notice zero electronics. This is intentional-I don't go onto the woods to play Angry Birds, I go for enjoyment of nature and peace of mind. If out in the chair I sub my Surface RT and a TiLite multitool for the chair for the quiver. Otherwise, nothing with a battery.
Todays Work bag consists of: Dell M4600 Roccat Kova Nexus 7 Tablet Wallet Passport Lunch box (with associated lunch) Waterbottle
I agree although in my case it would mostly consist of the contents of my site boxes etc as opposed to family stuff! I'll let this one run a while, then bump up the old "post your toolbox" thread. We'll see where it goes after that Nope, as I mentioned, I keep mine in the car under the passenger seat of the car when it's not being used, along with other emergency items like a flashlight, batteries etc. I would expect nothing less (or more?) from you on the subject. Knowing your profession, yours interests me quite a bit. What are the screws and screwdrivers for and which Spydie are you carrying? Also, I noticed there's no flashlight or spare batteries in there, do you carry one on your belt instead? Is it standard issue or something else?
I've got a customised mountain leader pack in the van with extras specific to the families medical needs (Feeding tube replacements etc), and if I'm going to be away from home, shops, friends houses or the van for a while (IE climbing a hill with the lad) then I pack a small pocket pack with me to wrap up grazes or blisters and allow the walk to continue. So nothing first aid related as part an every day carry. Small first aid kits are more for child appeasement than anything related to saving someones life, so IMHO unless you're going to carry about large dressings, mouth guards and gloves you may as well just carry a pack of tissues and a hand sanitiser.
Spyderco legal carry knife Awesome website that. The screws, etc are for repairing things we might damage, like forcing entry through a door. We carry equipment to remove locks from doors, so carrying spare euro locks means we can quickly replace the lock ourselves at minimal cost. I carry a slightly older version of this torch, which I got as a present a few years back. The standard issue is this torch, which is still very good! A massive upgrade to the two AA maglite's that used to be issued! Batteries last a long time and are plentiful at the nick, so I don't bother carrying spares. The torch itself is on a pouch in a webbed load vest, similar to this.
