For those that are interested, there's a very informative thread on another forum I moderate on regarding the F1: http://www.hifiwigwam.com/showthread.php?97734-Formula-1-2014 Of particular interest is a user by the name of "F1Eng" who is former F1 chassis and aero engineer Frank Dernie, and he's posted a fantastic amount of interesting info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Dernie
Big impact for Hamilton. Front break disk failure. The banning of FRIC has done little to slow Merc down and if anything its slowed down RBR and Ferrari even more than it has anybody else. Go Go williams though nice to see them back competeting at the top end.
Probably not going to happen, but Massa for the win tomorrow! Or Valteri Or Kevin the Blonde Or anyone else than Mercedes!
Wow merc pace is insane. Lewis making 17 places in 15-odd laps was mental! Ferrari, as usual, demonstrate their utter inability to strategise with any degree of intelligence or effectiveness. I'm surprised Alonso hasn't thrown his money in LdM's face and gone to another team,
Stunning recovery drive from Lewis, 20th to 3rd - V impressive, easily the drive of the day. Loved the close racing of Ricciardo against Alonso. Bottas is supercool. I'm expecting big things from him in the future. None of it was going to trouble Rosberg though, who is having the time of his life - Germany win the cup, he gets married and wins his home GP. Not too shabby.
Great race, good action especially with Lewis' rise from 20 to 3rd. Would think he might be a bit more cheery afterwards though! Great to see Alonso and Ricciardo racing as well - that was thrilling to watch. Massa is so unlucky - he always seems to get into accidents that aren't his fault. Glad to see he was ok though and fantastic to see Bottas / Williams doing so well this year. Bring on Hungary - I'll be there!
WTF Mercedes, they are sabotaging Hamilton or what. 3 car failures in Q1, is this the part of the season where cars will start dying in big numbers ? And what a fail for Kimi.
Why would he be more cheerful? He lost yet more points through no fault of his own. Lewis will not win the drivers title this year its as simple as that. The racing gods do not favour him 3 q1 failures 4 DNFs. If there was other cars even close to the merc in pace then he might stand a chance. Think he will be back to 30 points adrift tommorow (At best thats assuming the car can be fixed) which is a big old gap to close down once again.
Makes it easier for Merc if one of them does have a problem as they dont have to manage the drivers from crashing into each other then.
Bad luck for Hamilton again! Crazy hot at the Hungaroring today, although I'm not sure that came across on the TV. Hopefully Hamilton will be able to get some good damage limitation by not crashing and picking up a few places. Would be good for JB to have a good one as well!
I thought Lewis was on 2 DNFs so far (To Rosbergs 1) but a whole bunch of qualifying mishaps. There is plenty of time for Rosberg's car to catch up on the averages, as seen in Silverstone he's not exactly immune. As the season progresses and the engin replacements crank over (especially the Renault teams) penalties will come into it, I doubt even the Merc duo will get to the season end without a max engine changes penalty.
