And people wonder why I always misunderstand what people say.

And what that waiter really meant after I dropped my plate...

Man in the supermarket queue ahead of me said this the other day. It completely flummoxed the girl on the till, she had to call her supervisor to check if he could do this :sigh:

    That really demotivated me :(

Same, last year my shopping one day came to something like £5.15, so I handed over £10 and said "I've got 20p if it helps"; the response was something about it being too much ( said in an irate little Chinese lady accent... ) and so I got a load of change instead of a nice fiver & 5p.

    Gentlemen, behold:

I hate most Warhammer Ships. They're horribly un-aerodynamic and would stick out like a sore thumb during a real battle. If you think about the physics, it would be incredibly difficult to maneuver. Also, weapons would be really awkward to aim because of the ship's castle like shape.

Could've sworn I've already seen that chart (multiple times?) in this thread. Still pretty cool though.

Well, as long as the ship's only used in space, there's no need for it to be aerodynamic, given the lack of well.. air. Flying within the atmosphere of a planet would be problematic though.

here's something to think about... they have solar sails and solar wind, does that mean there's "solar air"?

Even in space though, you'd still need it to be built even in slightly aerodynamic fashion for it to be slightly more pilotable. They just look like they'd be a nightmare to maneuver, even in space.

Nope. "Solar sail" is a misspelling. It should be "solar sale", usually of the form of "buy one photon, get one free" (or BOPGOF as it's known in astrophysics). CMEs are the solar equivalent of stock clearances.

Solar wind is actually a cause of some embarrassment among suns and astrophysicists: it's caused when overly spicy material falls into a sun. You'll often notice that after particularly strong solar winds the sun sill turn slightly redder for a time.

    All true ;)

One guy has been working on it for years ( on deviant art ), adding various ships from time to time and fixing size/scale issues; this one above is about double the size of the last one I've seen posted and represents his final version as it were. :geek:

The whole aerodynamics issue would be more about shot deflection surely? The ultimate shape would be a ***** shape? So you have have thrusters at different ends to create trust and rounded front so that any impacts would be deflected without catching any angles.

    Edit

ALSO would we have enough metal on the planet to make one of the big spaceships? Like an Independence Day one?

And would it have an effect on the earths orbit around the sun being such a large mass?

    Mind = blown

No they dont. Aerodynamic mean nothing in space.

I guess the 'aero' part should give us a clue.

    Ah, I see. :)

Introducing the next big thing: iPaperweight.

I honestly hope it won't be the "waterproof update" all over again. Can't believe people actually fall for this.
