My heart leapt when I saw this and I eagerly dived in for the ultimate life-hack, assuming all my troubles would soon be over.

Took me a few seconds to realise. I was mistaken :miffed:

    I lol'd.

Why is everything a 'life-hack' nower days? I know it makes for a catchy title or sound bite, but really, most of these things are actually ( should actually be... ) common sense or a useful tip/trick for doing X, Y & Z in a faster and/or more efficient manner. But then, that doesn't make for a good title I guess.... :-/

'Common sense' hasn't been too common for a while now though...

The term 'life-hack' annoys me almost as much as the click-bait 'Are you gullible enough to click this?... the answer will shock you!' type links it's often found in...

I discovered the fitted sheet folding method via a GIF years ago, my sheets now fit in the cupboard properly.

    Demote
In New Zealand we have an ISP, Slingshot, that has a 'global mode' which auto routes traffic via a VPN for netflix and other region blocked sites. They tried to take them to court saying that providing the service was illegal, they lost and global mode was deemed legal. Now that the major telecom company here has released their own streaming site (more expensive than netflix and has far less on offer) they are now trying to sue slingshot due to providing access to videos that aren't classified under NZ law.
Any way to fight freedom huh?

I understand the reasoning; hack is a modern word for 'shortcut' or 'lazy way of doing things'. I find some of these thing can be pretty useful, like organisational ideas that clear up the mess without actually getting rid of it. But yeah 'life-hack', just seems like a silly tagline to appeal to the masses. Like using a 'hack' for your life makes it seem more interesting and appealing because hacks are normally considered bad, wrong or inappropriate.

And the image with the developers left out Bethesda Softworks with the subtitle "Do whatever the F*** you like".

Since there is no highly partisan news in the US, it's all extremely painful. As a libertarian (not Libertarian, not Tea Party) who is generally centrist or split depending on the issue (far right or far left), it's horrible to watch/read anything.

    All news reads as thus:

    "Republicans are idiots. Here's why."
"Democrats are ruining the country, but you already knew that."
    "Obama will save the world."
    "How Obama destroyed the constitution."
    :wallbash:

Just give me some facts. Who did what? How did people vote, was it with their party, if they dissented, why? Democrats and Republicans, for as much as they pretend to be at extreme opposites, behave more or less exactly the same when it comes to real policy.

Democrat speech: "We need to help the poor. We will do it by taxing the wealthy in our nation."
Democrat action: Increase taxes for middle class. Wealthy find loopholes.

Republican speech: "We need to help the poor. We need to encourage job growth with lower taxes."
Republican action: Decrease taxes for businesses (owned by wealthy). More tax burden laid to middle class.

Both parties practice a nanny state, not real freedom. Both parties are full of corruption, bribes, favors, unspoken promises, and are essentially run by corporate America. If we just had decent voting reform (no more first-past-the-post) and a political database that made politicians more transparent, we might stand a chance to fix our crappy political climate.
