While the results are extremely practical, the looks are not exactly pretty are they? Certainly not recommended for a case with a window.

Is it still a backplate when it mounts on the same side of the board as the pump/block?

As for the looks, I'd say it doesn't look too bad, but I suspect the routing of the pipes could be a real pain in a lot of cases.

Great idea, but I think they're a bit late to the party (surely by now anyone who would have bought a 290X / 290 already has one? And has committed to aftermarket cooling?).

Plus I'm sure the whole fan assembly bit could have been redesigned to fit a more efficient and quiet "normal" fan instead of a radial one.

£30 for a bracket and fan shroud...

I think they could've made a bigger effort with the presentation, because it's a bit fugly.

I'm all for the concept - I'm running an Accelero Hybrid on my 680, but at least Arctic tried to address the cosmetic appearance.

I don't think it looks ugly, tube routing could better its not terrible.

    Just seen the Accelero Hybrid.
How can you call this fugly when that thing looks like a Power Ranger weapon?

As I said - at least they tried to address the appearance. Differing tastes notwithstanding, it looks a sight tidier than the unfinished-looking offerings from Corsair and NZXT.

A little more effort to include some kind of adjustable cover plate (to accommodate varied tube fitting) and they'd be golden. It's almost like they thought "meh, that'll do - NZXT didn't close it off, why should we?".

Why does it need to be closed off, it'll be facing down, plus closing it off might limit where you can place the radiator.

Not for 99.9% of cases there isn't.

I have a G10 if it was closed off I would not be able to make the tubes reach where my radiator is.

    99.9% of cases?

Only one in a thousand cases has a reverse mounted or horizontal motherboard? :eyebrow:
What part of "adjustable cover plate (to accommodate varied tube fitting)" wasn't clear?

So it turns a dual-slot air cooled card into a 3+ slot water-cooled card with an external rad?
Not much good for SLI / Crossfire users, then.

It would be good to know. I'm getting one just to save my ears! But seriously, this is the last chance for my 290x. Hopefully this will allow the card to actually perform as it is supposed to.

I'd say not quite as good as a full cover water block. I can't push my memory as hard as I could with a full cover block. The GPU core didn't suffer though. *

*A couple of things to note - I'm using a different AIO and I have a 680, but relying on air cooling for the VRAM isn't as a effective as a water block that makes full contact.
