Wow... that is true demote right there...
Maybe introducing harsh penalties for this specific case may be an idea... And people look at me all funny when I say that I am in favour of protecting our environment, but GreenPeace and suck it.

 

Then again, how many times have governments and companies steamrollered over areas of natural and historical beauty/value? Is a rare blue whale worth less than a 1000 year old archaeological artefact? Is the Rain Forrest less valuable? What about a tropical island in a nuclear testing zone?

What Greenpeace did here was accidental. There are entire governments and economies that do this sort of damage on an industrial scale, with impunity, every day. Just sayin'.

 

But that still doesn't make it ok though, does it?
Yes, destroying the rainforest is bad. But while this is obviously not just as bad, it's still a monumentally stupid and insensitive thing to do. They have destroyed parts of an ancient artifact that holds huge religious and historical value for many people. Even if the message they were trying to send is good and honest, they still deserve all the flak they get for it IMO.

 

They do, but they also deserve an even-handed approach. If you be hatin' on Greenpeace, you should be hatin' equally on most governments (including Peru's) and global companies.

 

I think it's more the hypocrisy of it. Running all on emotions and flat out of common sense.

 

You do know that common sense isn't actually all that common, don't you?

 

That's why we call it healthy sense in Holland.
