Another free game engine. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2015/03/04/valve-announces-source-2-engine/1
Have they announced any new game? I was always under the impression that most new engines launch with a game to show them off? (i.e. Source launched with CS: Source)
Source 2 has amazing physics. I have access to a barrel and watermelon test and it's way beyond anything seen on Source 1. The most notable features: Ability to handle more than 1 million barrels and destruct them mathematically.
Well since the S2 engine is going to be prices very competitive. They probably want you to design some games for them.
It's nice to see that game engine developers are now realising it's better to give free access so anyone can develop.
This is good new for gamers and developers but I was under the impression that a game would be announced.
I have serious doubts that a game will be announced. But . . . while steam machines have been talked about, there hasn't been a specific update to Steam OS, so I'm predicting that will happen during this week still. Valve is presenting one session today and has one combined session tomorrow, but with some other studios. But it's still possible that something big with a 3 in it will be announced at one of those sessions.
