funny you should mention this. this mornings METRO carried a peice explaining that because the US government didnt want people to have access to ~good~ encryption, and wanted their won back door, millions and millions of cell phones and older computer systems, ** that will NEVER be updated** have a backdoor that took scientists only a few hours to break.. and alowed them total, unlimited access to the entire phone... and all because the NSA didnt want people to have access to actual encryption.

I'd add "thanks Obama" here, as i believe that's the common refrain at this point.. only he's one of the ones that voted against such a move.

 

Got demotivated in work, by people who scam 90 year olds and just taking their money and running. Had to deal with this company on the phone and ended up ripping into this girl for constantly lying to me not realising I know all the legal sides to what we were talking about.

Ended up reporting them to Trading Standards as they just need to get ****ed.

^Ditto. Seen a lot of reports about junk mail / scam companies fleecing pensioners for their life savings, it's a disgusting practice.

There have been several cases where applicants were denied employment for being too intelligent. The rationale is that anyone who is more than a certain intelligence will get bored and move on to another career, wasting taxpayer money on training. The courts have held that this practice is non-discriminatory.

According to this site there were only 147 line of duty death involving police officers in 2014, and of those only 47 were due to gunfire (49 if you count accidents). That's less than on a week, not two or three.

While I agree US police are under trained and over-armed, lets have a discussion with facts.
