Hi there I currently have BT Infinity option 2 and was looking to possibly switch to sky fibre, as I was having thoughts it may be cheaper as we currently have the tv package, just wondered if anyone had sky fibre and can say anything good about it. Thanks.

Sky fiber is fine you wont save a great deal though if anything depending on how much of the tv package your paying for.

If you want a unlimited usage max connection which is what infinity 2 is its £30 a month for the fiber + line rental on top ( Sky usaully discount the line rental if switching) Then the tv package on top of that.

Before discounts our total is about £120 before any calls. Discounts has that in the mid 80s for everything including 1 hd multiroom.

Did you use their website or call them?

I live on a junction, they just cabled my street, stopping on the other side of the junction, then the next street, stopping at the house next door. I'm maybe 10 meters past where they stopped.

I called them and they would be prepared to rip the street up that 10 meters and run a line to my front gate.

Similar story here - I get around 62meg (the limit for our cabinet) for £11 a month.

Been with them (well, Force 9) for 18 years, this year. I just reminded them of that fact and they dropped the price.

Overall though, I'm very happy with the service. Throughout that period of time there have only been a handful of occasions when I've lost service for any significant period of time, and most of those were line faults and not directly caused by the ISP.

I've never personally had Sky, but... I have had bad experiences at friends house and people I know with it have also said it is poor.. Speeds are never what they say either, unlike Virgin you seem to actually get more. I have 152mb and get 19MBps download...

Had Sky Fibre for just over a year and no problems for me. Got the 30meg package and get 30 meg whenever I've downloaded files.

Haven't had any drop outs or lost connections in that time.

Think I'll give sky a ring and see if I can work a deal with them, as we have the TV anyway.

Yeah same here PlusNet has been good for me too.

The two companies I would avoid is Sky and Talk Talk

Sky are possibly the biggest joke ever!!! their support staff speak to you like a child and dont Listen to what you have to say. You will also be stuck with their router if you go with fiber which is VERY basic. I would personally avoid at all costs.

I'd have to agree. SKY may be cheap but that's what you get in my experience, and that of a friends across the road. Back when we had ADSL, we were on their unlimited package and got 6Mbps but they then decided it was too fast and it dropped to 2Mbps. My guess is that they oversubscribed due to their cheap offerings, so everyone suffered.

Since then, we went with BT Infinity and I get 50/13 Mbps whilst my friend across the road decided to upgrade to SKY fibre. He gets 20/8 Mbps and pays nearly the same price as me. His house is literally directly opposite mine.
