Just redecorated and refurbished my bedroom come man cave and now I am coming to the detail. hiding or a least tidying up the many cables I have for my TV, PVR, Sound bar and Chromecast and the only one causing me difficulty is the Chromecast power lead, which is a couple of feet short to conceal it with the aforementioned other electronics.

I could run an extension from the extension but that defeats the object of having the original extension hidden away now.

I do not no if an extension exists for the Chromecast power supply but I doubt it. Or perhaps a PSU with a longer cable?

    Any suggestions?

What power cable does it use?

It's DC, so you could cut the connector off and splice some two core onto it to make it longer.

    This.

Not sure about that but a possibility.

Cannot see how as it does not help with my short cable problem. Not even sure what this does to be honest.

I just plugged my chromecast into a USB port on my TV rather than use the PSU it came with... it only wants power so the TV doesn't care.

Where did you get the adapter from?

I'm sure our Chromecast came with a USB to micro cable to power it from the TV as suggested by Geoff.
It'll be the same sort of cable (usually shortish) that is a standard USB to micro USB phone data/charge lead.
Just had a look, and that's how it's set up; Chromecast in the HDMI with power fed from the USB socket next to it.

The cable that comes with the chromecase is a standard USB lead with a normal plug on the end already ;)

One end if Type-A (normal usb plug that almost everything has) and the other end is the smaller Micro-USB plug (most android devices and portable electronics use this).

Here's the common USB plug types:

You sir are a genius, I did not even think to look at the other end. Now to cancel the extension.

^^This. Geoff went the extra mile and found the pics to make it really clear.
A success all round then :thumb:

Glenn, enjoy your clutter free Chromecast; ours isn't tidy as it commutes between TVs.
