How come this scores 89 and a premium grade and you scored 970's in general in the seventies recently on Custom PC?
Or are Bit and CPC now completely separate entities when it comes to reviews?

Were they part of a labs test? I think in tests of multiple cards they score them in proportion to each other.

I could be wrong though - wouldn't be the first (or last time).

Wow...it's also cheaper than the MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G 4GB and on par pricewise with the ASUS Strix 970 (that somehow isn't in the Charts)

A bit silly having an exhaust with the fins perpendicular to it though

My two Asus Strix 970's overclock to these levels from a single 8pin power lead.

I love my Asus Strix cards, playing Project Cars at 4K (no AA) with everything at max, apart from the 'reflections' which is dialled down to 'High', I was getting a lovely 50-60fps with 18 cars in the rain.

The memory issue isn't even a problem either as the VRAM count never went above 2.6GB.

Did I mention that I love my Asus Strix cards :)

They are still the best bang for the buck cards out there, bar none.

I have this card. It's been one of my better purchases the last year for sure. It's been great performer and I love that it runs passive most of the time. My only complaint is when I bought it there were no add in 'freebies' games or a backplate which they started offering just weeks later. I think this is the card to have if you are going for a 970. Not sure about the rest of the world, but in the USA these are often one of the cheapest choices as well, which always helps.

Yeah, they are now separate entities. The CPC ads on the site are now gone, as is the mag forum from what I can see. Test systems will soon be different as well. The only thing really connecting them after will be the writers.

And, as Spreadie pointed out, the 970's most recent review in CPC was part of a labs test, where the scoring process is completely different and calculated in a much different way. I did previously do a big post explaining it, but since the CPC forums no longer appear to be on bit-tech I can't find it xD

The scoring for that labs test was weird, and not in a good way.

I was majorly miffed when evga announced the ssc+ and f.t.w+. I got the original f.t.w believing thinking it would be the best evga had to offer, but it turned out to be a bit of a pig and I could only get a decent boost clock out of it after modding the bios to increase the power. This review has confirmed my initial anger. They must have known these cards were in the pipeline, so release a card with the f.t.w moniker when it was second rate was quite deceitful and I probably wont go with them again because of it.

And for the love of god can we get rid of the cheesecake nonsense.

That and the almost identical awards logos. Can I suggest that they also get 'updated' to further separate confusion? The award names/levels don't need changing but the almost identical badge should in my opinion.

Yep - already have this in the works and will be sorted out soon. If you'd like to see certain types of award, maybe that we don't dish out at the moment etc etc let us know.

Out of all the cards is this the 970 to go for?

Any point in getting a 980 over this? (RAM issue?)

Depends if you think 10% performance is worth £150 as that's the cost of the upgrade on this card to the cheapest 980.

    Well, this or the Strix.

They cost the same (in my country), this one is faster out-of-the-box, the ASUS is, well, ASUS :D
