I've just noticed that I've passed 40 million, and been slowly rising up the leaderboard. My mission is to break into the top 50 but that might take a while yet. Still plugging away with my 2 770's keeping the study nice and toasty and the wife most unhappy! Should I be upgrading my drivers? I haven't done it since I purchased the computer about 2 years ago. Lots of people seem to say that old drivers work better. I know sweet FA about it. What do you think? Will it help my PPD? Your views please. Cheers. Pete

Might depend which drivers you are on, but the older drivers did work well, and there's been no new advances in driver capability for Folding.

Thanks Doc. I guess in that case I'll stick with what seems to be working OK. The plan is to get another PC of some sort, move the 2 x 770's into it and then take it to my mobile home on my smallholding and run it 24/7 to keep the place warm in the winter. At present I'm only folding during the day as "her indoors" demands that the jet fighter noise is turned off during the night. Damn inconsiderate of her really ! Doesn't she know it's for science! Anyway, if I can get folding 24/7 then that should up my work rate somewhat, :thumb: as well as increase the electricity bill! :waah:

Hi guys, not been folding since 2013 recently got a 980 and heard they were good for folding so recently started again (about 4 weeks ago) I've just hit over 6 million points which I'm really pleased about.

    Welcome back.
A 980 should certainly be good for Folding :thumb:

Thanks! it's a lot better than my 7870 or even my GTX 770 were. I look at your output on the stats page and I'm in awe.

Into the top 20 producers with 155m. Now if only I could find a cheap case, cpu, m/b and PSU so I can put my 'older' cards to use!

    Hi fellow members :),

1st post on Bit Tech so be gentle! LOL

Due to having luved Custom PC mag since issue 1 :thumb: (and yes have them all  ) I joined the folding team back in 05/11/07.

Initially used my Q6600 with a 8800GTX and PS3, later a GTX 280; sadly that died and went for a HD5850 and as folding on that was pointless at the time stopped.

Come 2015 built a new rig with a 290 (later swapped to 290X) and have snagged over 10,000,000 points since Jan 15  .

    Current Rig:

    i5 4690K
    Archon SB-E X2
    Asus Maximus VII Ranger
    Kingston HyperX Savage 2400MHz 16GB
    Sapphire Vapor-X R9 290X
    Samsung 840 Evo 250GB
    Cooler Master V850

Housed in my age old Silverstone Tenjin 06 with a few mods! :dremel:! . Mesh side panel, 2x SSD mountings on outside of top HDD cage, 2x 92mm fan exhaust for top HDD cage, remove internal 3.5 cage to allow 2x 140mm fans as front intake.

Cheers! hoping to snag a newer used GPU for my Q6600 rig and then get that folding as well. One point had a 290 in that and with the i5/290X rig running as well peaked about 350,000 points for a day.

Cheers! I just like the inverted design and room in it so never thought of parting from it ;).

Will now nose around the forum to see if there's tweaks to gaining better PPD.
