Because they believe that it's good for business --particularly their own company shares.

The ISP filterering is working. Well, mine does.

I think this age check, if applied with credit card proof of age checking, will be very helpful for age checking on internet access with filtering turned off.

Cant see a reason not to use it.

You must be the one out of four that it does work for then, :p

Maybe because trusting some unknown site with your credit card details would be loonacy, or that a credit card company would ever dispute that it was you that used the credit card, and lets not forget about being accused of things that you have no knowledge of.

If your government blocks pirate bay use a proxy to get to it and then download some porn for yourself. Buy a temporary credit card in the news agents and get yourself a vpn account for the year. Or buy some bitcoin and do the same. Or just use a free proxy. Then its non stop hammer time. You're not approaching this like a teenager that's as determined and resource full as he is horny.

If nothing else it pretty much highlights how counter productive the ban is. There are numerous ways to circumvent it. But because someone thinks oh some major search terms and the main porn tube sites are blocked everyone is safe. They don't have to do any thing further to protect their offspring. They definitely won't have to deal with the issue head on or look them in the eyes and actually talk about sex.

Trusting any site related to porn with a persons credit card details might be a little risky in general anyway. But it might help in some way to stop kids from accessing porn. In general, btw, the idea is to eventually pay for it in some way - not just cream off the free stuff all the time.

Something might be better than doing nothing. Like I said, my filters are defo stopping me fr... erm, they are working anyways. If someone is going to great lengths to feed the porn binge then I would question their level of needs.

Not if the something also blocks legit sites, fails to do what it intends and provides a false sense of security for parents and an avenue for them to avoid their parental responsibility.

Indeed, why take the risk of educating people and letting them make decisions for themselves, we can't have them asking to many questions, it's far safer and cheaper to put as many obstacles in their path as possible.
