So, who's in the process of getting, installing or running a 980Ti? Thanks to EVGA's Step-Up programme, I'm upgrading my 980 in the HTPC for the very reasonable price of £74! Unfortunately Step-Up doesn't allow me to upgrade to a Superclocked version, so I'll be having the standard clocked version with the ACX cooler - I don't anticipate this making a lot of difference as I'll be overclocking it anyway. I imagine most are waiting for reviews of the AMD Fury cards before taking the plunge but for me, the choice is easy as a) I'm upgrading for a small fee anyway and b) my TV needs HDMI 2.0. I'll post a small number of benchmark results when I can.
I'm liking the look of the MSI Gaming and The Strix Ti's - dependant on reviews I'll grab one or the other, neither have been released at the time of posting.
hope my pre order gets completed by the first week of July with scan, asus hybrid Its kind of a small issue as I need to let my 980HOF go and this is changing my schedule of release. Interested in the performance of the 980ti As a side I managed to test asseto (in VR view) with this 980HOF, with both the over clock button pressed in and not pressed. Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 8241, 142007, 53, 74, 58.032 .this is with the button pressed in. Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 7831, 134613, 52, 75, 58.174 So I take it the button does nothing expect up the fan voltage then What you meant to use afterburner with this card or some thing? I thought the button OC it.
For the true hardcore overclocking aficionados out there, you may want to look into this: GALAX NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti HOF LN2 Edition This thing doesn't come with a cooler - that's for you to provide! Edit: Hmm, the old links didn't work any more.
Well, EVGA have emailed me to say the card is on the way. I look forward to playing with it this weekend.
Holding out hope I'll be invoiced tomorrow so I can take advantage of the extra warranty EVGA are currently offering!
Just ordered the gigabtye 980ti G1, going to be with me tommorow. I am really almost scared, the spec on this card is really some thing. This is a proper bit of kit, it has my utmost respect, I will try to do some helpfull benchmarks. I feel really apprehendive about his card, in game im going to be basicly at as good as it gets. Want to see how the fps is in vr games at max everything. 980hof does around 55fps In assetto at total max everything
card has arrived. I am pretty overwhelmed to have it, I respect its spec, this is a proper GPU. Going to do a number of benchmarks, 980HOF vs 980ti triple screen in VR in stuff like ARMA 3, war thunder, assetto corsa, first impression when holding it is, its not huge, its kind of thin for the power it is, its not overly thick. Some 980HOF benchmarks. Going to be installing the 980ti in a minute. NVidia Driver : 9.18.13.4788 - 13/03/2015 All settings at absolute highest. [VR] Assetto Corsa - native support Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 11457, 223206, 37, 62, 51.329 Arma 3 - Vorpx, VR Close, random weapons. Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 12356, 150447, 0, 121, 82.129 Alien Isolation - Crew Expendable DLC Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 44760, 597983, 69, 77, 74.852 War Thunder - Native Support - Battle of Berlin Benchmark Average FPS - 74.6 Minimal Average FPS 73.9
no, in oculus, I will do the triple screen as well thou. I am getting worse performance with the 980ti in VR, assetto is ridicules. [VR] Assetto Corsa Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 127, 3354, 37, 52, 37.865 Arma 3 Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 24778, 273049, 0, 191, 90.746 war thunder is doing good at 74,5 avg Looks like NVidia need to work on the drivers for the 980ti, I am around 3 to 6 months ahead of the curve. ideally I could roll back to the 980 and roll back forward to the 980ti in 2 to 3 months I think... I will fire up the triple screen and see how it goes. Need to roll back to the 980 for tomorrow thou some one is having ago in assetto.
the g1 has completely blown me away, I am completely 100% impressed, I wanted this card back when I bought the 980hof. What have they done with this card, omg, this is a proper £600 card. I used fraps for the below. GTX980HOF (stock) driver : 17/06/2015 - 10.18.13.5330 (353.30 WHQ) Triple screen 5760 x 1080 (nvidia surround 3x1920x1080) Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 6925, 121290, 49, 68, 57.095 Oclus Rift set as primary screen, Assetto set to Oculus 75hz. Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 7518, 113428, 57, 74, 66.280 --- gtx980ti G1 gaming driver: 353.30 - WHQL - Mon Jun 22, 2015 Triple screen 5760 x 1080 (nvidia surround 3x1920x1080) Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 10013, 134489, 58, 90, 74.452 Oclus Rift set as primary screen, Assetto set to Oculus 75hz. Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 10085, 134473, 73, 76, 74.996 It provides the most fluid natural experience in the rift, its like night and day, I thought 60fps was fine, there is some thing about this 74fps, I have to apologise, I thought I understood, I am arrogant, I thought close was good enough. The 980ti to me is one of the most impressive bits of kit I have ever seen.
I'm holding out (mostly pay cheque wise) to snag an EVGA 980Ti Hybrid which includes the closed loop water cooler ala. AMD Radeon Fury X. I've had great performance and longevity out of my Corsair H80/H100's so a closed loop system combined with EVGA's great support seems like a win-win to me. I've seen them for around £40-50 more than a reference 980Ti and factoring in the cost of a custom loop + hassle... seems like a deal to me.
Went from 2x GTX 770 4GB to 1 980 ti, very good upgrade, plays anything well maxed out @ 1440p, nice to have a single card that can do that. Hope to catch a 2nd hand 980 ti at a later date (if I upgrade to a 4k screen).
This card is FAST! Not only that, as seen in the reviews, it overclocks like a boss. I've yet to see if my settings are truly stable, but it seems quite happy running at 1490MHz Boost and 7970MHz memory. I had to tweak the fan profile though to stop it thermal throttling (85C being the limit) but I put this down to the fact its in a cramped case. I would have gone for a reference cooler but for some reason the Step Up programme wouldn't let me choose it. Results below at UHD resolution and all settings at max. A huge improvement over the 980. Games are now much smoother. X Rebirth in particular now is normally hovering around 60FPS, so is lovely to play - better than a Titan! Very happy! Edit: forgot to mention my old 980 OC was 1455MHz boost, 8002MHz memory and was an EVGA Superclocked variant so already had a rather substantial factory OC applied.
Anyone else bought 980Ti? Maybe with stock cooler? Curious how stock titan cooler is doing compared to custom coolers.
