Hi all, Im doing a few upgrades to the man cave and I'm planning on installing a 4K TV that I can play some games on from my PC. I already have a suitable TV however I can't work out if its HDMI 2.0 or not!! Seem to find conflicting evidence when googling. The TV is a Samsung UE48JU6400K XXU. This site happens to say it IS HDMI 2.0, but its the only one all the others I find don't mention 2.0 Ive got a feeling my luck is out and it won't be HDMI 2.0 compatible, so how important is it for gaming from my PC?
Manual states that its recommended refresh rate is 60Hz at 2160p over HDMI. Considering HDMI 1.4 caps out at 24/30Hz... you can assume it's likely HDMI 2.0.
Nice find, although I can't find it in the manual myself yet! Still looking. Whats the easiest/best way to test and prove this then? I can order up a HDMI 2.0 cable but whats the test that would prove it?
Thanks Loftie, but I don't think that tells me what I need to know. I need to know whether my TV is HDMI 2.0 compliant. Im thinking of getting a fast / 2.0 cable to test but I'm still not sure how I will tell! From the reading I've done the difference is that a non compliant TV/cable will only play at 30fps, which is obviously not ideal. I would rather get it right now and future proof it.
Cheers Pete, but question is.... can it run over 30FPS at 4k? From what I've found out, only HDMI 2.0 compliant TVs and cables can do that. Im having trouble confirming 100% if my TV is compliant so I was wondering if there was a test I could do to prove it.
I believe all the samsung 4k TV's have HDMI 2.0 as standard. I use a HDMI 2.0 cable from GTX 980 Ti to the samsung 4k tv. But it has flickering issue on some backgrounds at 60hz when moving the mouse, also has an issue of half the screen corrupting when switching source back to the pc requiring a reboot. So I run it at 2160p 30hz & all is fine, even gaming is fine at 30hz, it actually seems smoother than 60hz to my surprise.
