I'm with vm and got an email about a months ago saying that my bb would be getting upgraded soon. I ignored as i'm already on the 152mbs service, so maybe they are rolling it out again as free

One mile from Swansea City centre..currently on 8MB BT Broadband with no upgrade in sight according to their website.
No Virgin on the horizon either.
    Pathetic.

I just yesterday got a letter from Virgin telling me they are upgrading services again soon so are upping the price..again. Perhaps I will downgrade from the top tier; dunno.

    Landline connection: 1.23Mb/s

**** you BT with your 'we do care about rural' ********.

EE 4G home based mobile broadband connection: 40Mb/s down 36Mb/s up

£50 for capped 50GB per month. After which it is £15 per 10GB extra.

I reckon when 4K streaming becomes the norm, I may have to sell up and move nearer an exchange.

Very confused by this article. I got a link in an email from virgin (to a page that never seems to load) and a letter saying I would be upgraded in October to 300Mb not 200.

    Snipit below.

"The upgrades will see those with the 50 Mbps product upgraded to 100 Mbps, 100 Mbps to 200 Mbps and 152 Mbps to 300 Mbps"

Have they knocked the offering back to 200. I thought it was weird that the trial was run at 240 and then they were going to offer more than that.

It isn't free really. I got a letter from VM a couple days ago advising that the amount I pay for my service is going up by £1.50 per month. It then states how I'll be getting a free speed boost. They have been upping prices twice a year for a while now. So there may be no direct fee for the increased speed, but it's not really free is it.

Could you scan and post a picture of that letter - with your personal details removed, obviously. If that's what they promised, they've dialled it back considerably: 152Mb/s goes to 200Mb/s, 100Mb/s to 150Mb/s, and 50Mb/s to 70Mb/s. It's all there in the official press release.

It was originally meant to be 300, 200 and 100mb, the people on the trials were getting 300/20 which was their original plan and they even sent letters out which Syphadeus received stating it was 300mb.

So obviously Virgin either couldn't boost everyone to 300 so had to dial it down or didn't think they needed to go the full 300 yet.

Just had an email about the upgrade ,it will cost £5.99 for p&pp for a new hub and it will go up to 200mbps. No other costs involved if you install it yourself.

This is all well and good but I hope they sort the upload speeds out as well.

We downgraded from the XXL TV/BB/Phone package to the M one. Still had top tier BB, just lost a few channels that we didn't watch anyway. Saved us about £30pcm.

I've not heard anything from Virgin, but they've increased my speed. I get around 18mb/s from Steam now, as opposed to a max of 15mb.

Downloaded the whole of the Star Wars Battlefont beta which was more than 10GB in less than 10 minutes. which is an average of over 17Mb/s.

ITS LIKE LIVING IN THE FUTURE!
