    Guys.

About six months ago I was pottering around on Amazon (as you do) and managed to buy a Razer Black Widow Ultimate BF4 edition for £32 delivered.

    The only catch? it's French..

I switched out some keys to put it back to QWERTY but the W key sorta tilts backwards as it was from the bottom of the keyboard.

Now AFAIK (and please correct me if I am wrong) Razer do use their own switches but I should be able to fit caps, right?

If so where do you lot get them from? it's a full sized keyboard but I would probably only do the WASD and arrows.

The switches (do they still use Kailh?) are MX compatible - so you can fit replacement caps.

However the slightly non-standard layout - the 1x1 sized bottom row modifiers - means you will struggle to find a full replacement set.

Give Razer a shout and ask if they have a few spare caps - tell em some caps got knocked off when you were moving house or something and you can't find them. They might throw a few at you as a goodwill gesture, or charge you a few quid for the trouble, like Coolermaster do.

Wait, is it just the W key you need?

I might have a spare amongst my many boxes of caps - it won't be an exact match font-wise, but it'll be a black ABS cap with a transparent legend.

I'll see if I have something suitable and post a pic.

Yeah, right now the only key that doesn't fit in properly is W.

No need to dig one out dude, I'd really like to replace WASD and the arrows. Just need to know a good place to get them from really :)

Guys thanks for all of the advice !

Given that the innards of my rig are all blue (and my case lighting at present) I decided to order these.

    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/abs-...out-keycaps-blue-white-legends-kb-024-op.html

Not sure I will use them all, but for £24.95 delivered they seemed like a sound bet :) Pics.

I figured given that I had robbed Amazon for this keyboard (£32 inc) it would be rude not to invest a little more to get it looking cool.

It's got to be the best Razer product I have ever owned, unlike their mice that I go through like the wind.

I don't think the Tai Hao caps have transparent legends, so you'll likely lose the backlight effect on any keys you use them on. Well, the caps are fairly thin, so you might get a glow through the cap in general.

Yeah it's backlit but tbh I touch type any way (I've had to with it being French) so I'm OK with them only glowing around the edges :)

They'll almost certainly shine right through them, they're thin enough. It makes for quite an interesting look.

This thread is like a drug! No interest in keyboards at all and a few weeks after getting hooked on this.... Proud owner of a Ducky Legend with cherry reds.

Now to hunt some cap sets (its just sooooo moreish).

That would work tbh. It's a shame the keyboard has orange LEDs but I can live with it. I've been thinking about painting the frame yellow and doing it Fallout style.

I bought a plotter last year and have hardly used the thing.

Yeah, I must say that having a completely custom keyboard is quite exciting :D

Are there any good hackable keyboards?

Also is there any arduino-IDE friendly firmware? (I'm not even sure I would want there to be given how horrible the arduino IDE is)

If anyone is interested I might sell my Toxic caps, as I don't use them. I can't get on with the profile (DCS) so they've been in a box for ages. The set covers any standard layout TKL as I didn't get the numpad.
