I've seen quite a few 680s and 7970s sell for that or less tbh. IIRC a 680 Power Edition sold last week for £85 inc. 670s are worth more like £60-£75 depending on model etc.
Seriously, you seem to be rebuffing advice all over the shop. The majority opinion here is to save and buy the best you can. You might get a card that can just about play JC3 at 25-30fps, but next year when another game comes out, then what? You'll come here asking for another cheapo card that can play that game. Spend £2-300 on one card and that'll serve you well enough for the next 3-4 years unless graphics technology becomes drastically intensive, which is won't. Better that than spending £100+ per year on cards that just don't cut it in any way.
Not rebuffing anyone. Money is a factor. I cannot spend £200 or anywhere near that as much as i would love to. 2nd hand would be fine but i would never buy from ebay.
Then save it up. If you can spend £100 one month, surely you can spend more the next month if you save it up? By that time anyway, JC3's bugs will be on the way out (hopefully), and the price may have dropped a few percent. Better yet, wait out the year and save a lot, an JC3 will be more than worth the purchase. Also, you're better buying from eBay than somewhere like Gumtree or Craigslist. At least you can get paypal protection if the card turns up a dud. The other option is to get a refurb'd card from Scan/Overclockers etc. It'll be a second hand card that comes with a shortened guarantee, but it should get the job done.
what you are asking and your budget are 2 different things ; if you want to buy a card from the market place , you need more posts
You can get some decent cards 2nd hand that will run JC3 for £150. You just need to make a decision on whether or not you're happy with 2nd hand.
So where exactly would you buy second hand from then? Because as I've stated earlier, at least with Ebay, you get buyer protection.
Every second hand GPU I've bought from Ebay so far has been a bake job. I'll admit they were quite old (as I only needed them to flash a bios or what not) but yeah, not cool. I would buy a second hand GPU from Ebay but only if it were Gigabyte or EVGA and still well within warranty.
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-...x16)-5500mhz-gddr5-990mhz-gpu-1792-streams-dp £146 380. 2gb version but you can't have everything with your budget. Plus at 1680 res I can't see it being much of a problem. Marginally better performance than a 670 and you get a warranty, but you're paying for it. EDIT- performance video for JC3 at 1080, AMD 380 vs NV 960 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBBw5nssai0
Thanks, will check it out. I will be changing my monitor after Christmas so will have a different res. Max i will be looking at is a 22" Monitor
