thank you all, glad you like it lighting was quite hard, lots of work went in to it, shame its so hard to capture on the camera if anyone has tips for taking pix of red LED lighting please let me know, looked on the net & cant find anything that helps me but the main thing i wanted was for the desk to look different & cool (in my eye) even when all the lights are off, I think it worked well, catches the normal light very nice but not in your face this again is hard to capture, as my room is small and dark. the 40" screen blocking the window dont help lol
Such an amazing build!! Question though: it just occurred to me that all the lights below might make it hard to actually play games on something like this? Doesn't all the colored lighting affect how you view the monitor, or no?
Thanks Mic, glad to see you lasted all the way to the finish line with me, along with a couple more i.e mr Bartacus below yeah im really happy i went the hard way with the paint, 100% happy now but its good enough to wrap at a later date should I want a change. tbh, I was planing to wrap some parts, but as the paint looked so nice I changed my mind lol I can see how it looks in the photos, but no, its the other way around! the light from the monitor reflects on the glass, the LEDs can ofc be set to dim or off when needed, but I do have most of them on apart from the ones in front of the RES's as they do put me off. its like watching TV with a lamp on, I love that cosy feeling lol I will try capture this in the video, but its going to be hard in my small room, as i cant get all the angles due to them darn walls getting in the way
BTW, finally got my 3rd place prize for MOTM Thanks again to all of you that voted! making it in to the top 3 for the 1st time was fantastic going to go for 2nd place next build, thats if i do another build ofc
Been a bit busy over the past month, but im back now I recently got the 2 finaly items for the build from Cooler Master, a CM Storm Xornet 2 gaming mouse & Swift RX mat. Cheap mouse! £20 or less... Couple of photos for you to have a look at & iv also uploaded a quick hands on video. also over the past week my new screen has arrived, I liked the 40" 4K screen so much that iv now gone for a 43" 4K. I cant go any bigger than this, as it will cause some neck problems in the long term lol Its a better fit for the desk also, as it now spans the total length of the centre top shelf. More photos on that & other bits later. mouse vid.
Awesome build! I love the way you did the power buttons. I'm trying to determine how many I need & for what purposes. I'm trying to go with odd numbers, so either 3 or 5 & see you have 5 buttons. Can I ask what you use all 5 buttons for? Thanks!
I started to make a video for YouTube & realized I still needed to sort my wires out as the KB & Mouse wires was hanging over the front of the desk. Had a couple of options, go to the sides, back or front going to the sides would mean the mouse & KB would need to be disconnected every time I lift the glass & you could also still see the wires. Same story for the back they would be seen still. Going with the front meant I had to make a hole in the desk But this idea was best, wires cant been seen & the KB & mouse can stay on the desk as the glass lifts high enough to get inside to most the components & clean if needed. The KB will still need to be taken of the desk if I lift the glass all the way back though. Looks cleaner now, just need to touch up with some black paint.
Thanks a lot ----------------------------------UPDATE--------------------------------------- After completing this build iv gone though 4 screens, at the start I still had my 1440p IPS screen but with the new desk I wanted to use some more of that GPU power & go with 3 screens or 1 4K screen. As the bigger 4K screens offer more desktop space & higher resolution I decided to go with that. The 1st screen was a BenQ BL3201PT 4K 32" very nice build quality, but with other screen on the market with the same specs & 10" bigger I decided to try the next step up AMH A409U 4K 40" Its also shown in the main photos uploaded last month so I wont post them again. The screen was great, build quality & menu not as good as the BenQ though, but as its the screen Im most bothered about this monitor was better in my eyes & 8" bigger. Was having some problems with the remote on the AMH, so the seller offered me a Crossover 434 4K 43" instead, cant complain with that Loving the new screen, best of the 3 4K screens iv had so far. As I was swapping screens I took a couple of shots without the screen on the desk...
Yeah, its the Crossover 434 4K 43" Power, side compartment lighting, temp monitor, top lights, side lights, motor power (on/off) controls P.S, you can now vote on this and other builds here > http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=295352
I voted for you mate I saw your video on how the top opens, can you show me how you did that, or did I miss an earlier post
