    Hi All,

I need to finally replace a Samsung Galaxy S2 for the other half and looking for suggestions.

I've had a look around at some of the options and so far the Huawei P8 Lite seems to be quite good.

    Any suggestions?

Needs to be Android and she doesn't want a Sony.

Needs to have a fairly large screen and really would be only looking at new handsets which are sim free.

    Cheers.

Was hoping to get one before Christmas really and can't see one from UK although I have only had a quick look.

Have you considered the Wileyfox Swift? £130 from Amazon, and a really good phone by all accounts.

Motorola Moto G3 are pretty decent and as close to vanilla Android as you'll get. We were getting them for about £100 each, but that was trade prices. Think they're about £140 retail.

That phone actually looks pretty sweet! Might have to pick one up myself if it turns out to be reliable.

I'll second this. Recently got one as a company phone and it's brilliant.:thumb:

I managed to get one for £110 from Carphone Warehouse. Seems an amazing amount of phone for the money to me. I value the high water resistance too, which other than Sonys you can't really get even in a flagship these days. Would be pretty happy with it even if it was £140.

I'll try and get her to a store and look at the G3 as soon as I can.

Just a query, does it have otg support?

IIRC the 3rd Gen Moto G does support OTG.

I've had a Moto G 1st and 3rd Gen now, and both phones have gone faulty on me. They're not very reliable phones IMO. Just something to consider.

I also hear Moto's support has gone down the toilet since the Lenovo takeover, that said most OEMs only seem to care about users of flagship models - bought a cheaper/low-end device? Good luck... you're on your own.

[Avoid HTC for this very reason...]

Just to counter your anecdata, my 1st gen Moto G 4G has been absolutely rock-solid during the 18 millionths I've had it.

Hoping to get her somewhere tomorrow evening to have a look at one.

As the 8GB version is pretty much in the range I'm looking do any of you find the 1GB of ram an issue?

    Cheers

I know my mother has one of the Moto G devices, not sure on the generation, She has had no issues with it so would get my vote.
