I almost got quoted in the New York Times.

A couple of years ago I wrote a post for Arms Control Wonk on Red Mercury, which doesn't actually exist, but is still frequently sought after by people who want an atomic bomb without building all those pesky centrifuges. Recently, a reporter from the Times was researching an article on the subject and came across my piece and got ahold of the publisher for ACW. The publisher got quoted because he has a title (and a sharp sense of humor), and the quote from my original article got cut for length.

Anyway, here is my original article from 2013

And here is the New York Times piece from last month

Gave the Gas company an actual reading for the first time in at least 18 months, turns out I'm £1,484.64 in credit, which is nice.

Either you use a shitload of gas to not notice that level of overcharging, or there's some serious explaining to be done. Are they giving you the interest on that too?

I'm sitting at £500 in credit, through choice by paying the same amount regardless of usage.
It tends to balance out over the year, and OVO pay 3% on any credit balance anyway, but nearly £1500 - thats pretty good going :)

Good times. I remember that article on ACW way back when, I read it after you introduced me to the site.

I've lost count of the amount of times I've been "almost quoted" but it's still a good feeling to be called or interviewed for the quote.

Not paying attention to what I'd set up is the main cause, I originally set a monthly DD payment for £76.50. That was when I had both gas and electric from them, I changed the electric but kept the gas with them because it was cheaper but forgot to reduce the payment.

Pulled out a half-decent blade for some tameshigiri today. Thin stuff was fine, but MIL asked me to clear a path through a stand of small birches down to her old trailer. A bit of focus and belief in myself, and I open my eyes to more than one 2" tree felled. I think the student truly has become the *******, or however it's said.

I got my first 3 month Hba1c test back today I've gone from 10.6 to 6.9 I know that the numbers probably don't mean a lot so I'll put a pic to illustrate why I'm so chuffed right now.

Good stuff! Is that from changes in diet, medication, or both?

Cheers bud, I'm fine. Won't be sleeping at all tonight so may do a bit of Left4Dead but I do tend to prefer playing that drunk and I do not think alcohol is wise at the moment.
