Wolf- lol. It's a shame though really, the UK has a very long and rich history of shooting sports which we used to celebrate openly once upon a time. It's truly sad how things have changed and now shooters have to hide in the shadows for fear of being labelled loonies or nutters by the press, and the gullible sheep that read that gash.

Yup, and I wonder why that is (hint: the colonial history of Britain). But more fundamentally, people are basically the same everywhere. British citizens are not inherently wiser people than Americans when it comes to wielding firearms.

I've heard of muskets and antique rifles; let's not consider those working firearms.

Setting aside that it is a lot harder to kill a whole classroom with a knife or a car, anything can be used to kill, but guns are only for killing. We need kitchen knives and cars; we don't need guns.

I acknowledge that for some people, a rifle is a necessary tool. If people want to indulge in shooting guns as a sport, in a gun club, then they can go ahead as far as I'm concerned. I'm not arguing for tightening gun laws even further, but I'm not for relaxing them either. The population of gun owners would change. You cannot wave current statistics and extrapolate them to a larger, more heterogeneous group of gun owners that would result if laws were relaxed.

And LOL the idea that a civilian armed militia could stand against a government army. Democracy is not about guns. It's about being adults and not voting immature idiots into power just because they promise to be your daddy.

And who do we blame for leaving the tools everywhere so that a person we know could be dangerous can easily find and use them. This is like saying blame the child for drinking the brightly coloured cleaning fluid, not the fluid, but then forgetting that the child is a potential risk factor in the equation because of their mental abilities, someone made the decision to make a cleaning fluid that looks like soda and someone else put it in an accessible place. As such your argument was incomplete so as to fit your point. It is like listening to FOX news soundbites.

Secondly there are not lots of mass knife killings in China, stabbings and woundings and maybe you have an argument, but not so many killings (that is not to say zero however, but it is low especially so in relation to number of knifes vs stabbings). But remember, when comparing to the USA we also need to look at what constitutes a MASS murder vs what constitutes one in other countries.

Finally that Orwell quote would be an argument from authority fallacy seeing as you seem to like them.
