I think it was a fair explanation for what he did, but not a fair expectation from another racer. Kvyat may indeed have startled him and caused him to swerve, but his driving in and of itself was far from dodgy.

Seb's probably (understandably) a bit embarrassed and defensive on this.

I would rather see success ballast.

It used to work wonders in DTM, the fastest drivers in the fastest cars would still win over the course of a season, but race to race it was anyone's game.

That was a solid race. Not the outcome I wanted (I really can't stand Nico), but a good race.

Vettel/Kvyat/Raikonen was a racing incident, nothing more or less.
Kimi was racing Dani, Vettel got between them. If anything, Kimi went a bit deep there, and one could argue that his rejoin was not too safe (considering the knock-on effect of the Sauber dodging him and tagging Lewis).

Lewis' car seemed quite heavily compromised. Even in the straights, where power does make a difference, he struggled keeping up with the other cars.

Be interesting to see what the damage was, did seem a lame duck not enough power in a straight line and unable to do much at low speed either in corners from what five live were saying. Going to try an watch it did sound like a cracking race bar Rosberg snooze fest up front.

Is Red Bulls performance purely down to the car or has the engine had some magic over the winter from Renault/Ilmor. The commentary said about having outstanding drive off the slow corners.
I know as well the Renault team haven't been able to develop the car going into the season so its hard to judge engine performance directly.

Also those last places was a complete mix, I didn't hear what happened to Palmer but Magnussen humbled him. Marussia had a decent race and again Wehrlin outperforming Haryanto.
Raikkonen and Bottas haven't impressed so far this season and neither has either Sauber driver tho their car isn't helping.

Pecking order looks to be establishing itself as
    Merc
    Ferrari/Red bull
    Torro Rosso/Williams
    McLaren/Haas
Force India/Renault/Marussia/Sauber (Driver dependant on order)

In the meantime, Paul Hembrey threatens that Pirelli might pull out of F1, unless they get a chance to fairly develop and test their products. Fair enough i say.

Grosjean is quite miffed about the contact with Eriksson, calling the kid "idiotic"...

I would say the idiots in charge who don't know what they want are 100% of the problem.

2013 would be a fine example. The teams and rule makers demanded an all new heavier tyre with steel belt construction and a life span that could be measured almost to the 100 metres before the tyre became unusable.

    Bad idea said Pirelli.

    We insist said everyone else.

Cue enormous chunk of steel belt flying inches past Alonso's head.

Despite this the tyres Pirelli are making now actually provide enormous amounts of grip. The qualy times now are approaching the almost mythical 2004 car times and they're faster than the 2010 Bridgestones.

Unless they read the riot act on arrival any other tyre maker will get stuck in the same loop of being told to make tyres that degrade quickly to help the racing, but are also stable enough to be run for long stints.

Hopefully the new tyres for 2017 will have a much wider thermal window, if not these new wider faster cars Ecclescake has pushed for will be utter pap as they will generate so much heat in corners they will degrade quicker than the 80's quali tyres.

Pirelli have handled a lose-lose situation like champs so far.
The idiots on top are definitely the problem

Also if not Pirelli, then who? Haven't the F1 higher-ups pretty much pissed off every major tyre manufacturer over the years?

    Low surface tension coating maybe?

Or they can all license Mclaren's ultra sonic windscreen clearing system and we get to watch the rain doing a little manic dance off them on the grid.
