Too expensive for what is basically a pretty cheap to make mid range card. Hopefully AMD will continue to produce better DX12 performance and get some more cards out so they force nvidia to give us more for our money with the 1160/70.

That would not have been in the review guide sent by Nvidia.

I'll look into adding these. Also want to get the new DX12 3DMark tested. I've been pretty sick recently leading to a short turnaround time on this review; there wasn't time to add new things.

    Everything's a conspiracy with you, isn't it? ;)

Very interesting. As Sonic says, no SLI is disappointing.

It's interesting that for the first time in as long as I can remember, both sides have a card offering the same performance for the same price. Normally they'll slot cards in between each other at separate price/performance levels, which in my opinion is a very purposeful tactic to avoid absolute direct competition, rather than a happy coincidence.

Whilst the removal of sli is a slight disappointment, it's unlikely to cost them many sales at all and at least they're being open about the foibles of going multi gpu.

I just can't get over the price hikes regardless of the performance boosts. Almost £300 for a x60 card and over £400 for a x70. These prices just make any meaningful upgrade absolutely out of reach for so many people. Looks like I will once again be waiting...

The generation leap for performance has come down in price but not enough for most people. The 1060 and the 480 will likely eventually settle somewhere around the old 970 price point for both cards with the current state of the £. That is even more likely.

Scan had the 1060 for £238 before which is not a bad deal. 480 is similar pricing in that regard. Performance between the 2 cards is very similar.

I know people have mensioned dx12 and Vulkan but in truth by the time either is every other release this and every other card will be very out dated.

I donno. I feel underwhelmed and part of that is expectation. I think with the 1080 and 1070 hype was expecting something earth shattering. TBH I was hoping for a bit more performance to bring it closer to the 980 especially based on RRP and the RX480. Power draw isn't a massive advantage over the AMD either. I'm honestly leaning towards the RX480 over the GTX1060. I guess I'll need to dissect more benchmarks first.

Well going by this example, the MSI TWIN Frozr versions of both cards are around £240 for the 970 and £285 for the 1060 which beats the 970 in performance but not but a staggering amount and the price difference is quite large so you are paying for anything extra.

Personally I won't be getting involved until the 1060 is under £200 or the 1070 is around the £300 mark.

Yeah, you shouldn't believe everything you read ;) An easy fix on third party PCBs as Anfield has pointed out. Unless you're dead-set on getting a Founders Edition, it was a non-issue.
