Other Books you are currently reading?

Holiday next week, so lined up a few to get through;

 

They have arrived today but I think I will first finish Speaker of the Dead, book #2 of 4 of the Endersaga I have. Really enjoyed Ender's Game. Split between going for Jasper Fforde or book #3 after that....

 

I started reading the Blue Ant Trilogy today on the train. Already hooked.

 

The Last Testament of Lucky Luciano

 

Excellent, I read it last year and thought that they were brilliant. I hadn't read any WG for 20 years or do.

Read Virtual Light recently, and didn't find it as easy going as the later trilogy. Need to try Idoru next

 

Went with Jasper Fforde, well into book 6 of the Thursday Next series by now. With a short break with His Bloody Project by Graeme Macrae Burnet... BRILLIANT!

Also read a couple comics/graphic novels by Warren Ellis: Tree, Injection. And Outcast by Kirkman. And Wytches by Scott Snyder. And some Deadpool. And some Batman. And V for Vendetta.

Have you seen the movie? If so, how does it compare to the book? Saw the movie a few weeks ago and enjoyed it enough to think about reading the book(s).

 

I have (last night, in fact).
Burton plays fast and loose with the source material there.
The plot is somewhat different, and the books have stronger characters (although the age differences between the books and the film may be a bit confusing at first). The books are also "darker" if that makes sense.

Also, important to note, the first book flows over into the second one seamlessly. They're very clearly a series of books. Can't judge the third book just yet.

I quite liked the first one. It's much in the same tone as the film, but also quite a bit more interesting.

Just finished Ready Player One. A very enjoyable read despite being a little young to get all the 80s references. Definitely worth a read.

 

Brent Weeks new book, The Blood Mirror might possibly be the best book I have ever read. Seriously guys, invest yourselves into the series. I'm losing more and more hours sleep due to it!

 

Just started this. I do like Boyle's dark humour.

Finished His Bloody Project: absolutely great book if you want something different. And i just started American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Very entertaining read so far.
