Felt a little too scripted at times, I know the old TG was as well, it just felt more natural. Maybe it's to prevent Clarkson coming out with any unholy stuff, but it's still much, much better than what TG is now. Some good car porn, the celebrity thing was funny with Renner...but got very stale, very quickly. Got high hopes for the series though, and this is mostly nitpicking!
Really really embarrassing to watch. Jeremy telling Hammond to shut up, one long boring feature going around and around the same track and the usual right wing Clarkson tendencies. Where is the spontaneity they used to have? If you think it was any good, go back and watch the episodes where they went to the Brits or the Crap Russian car multi-test or the British Leyland episode...now they were funny. Shark well and truly jumped.
I've only watched the first test so far and they kept saying the cars make them poop. And.. "Americans have different words to the Brits" It was just embarrassing to watch.
I really don't see what was embarrassing I thought it was great, a bazillion times better then new top gear. Wow they said poop a few times, tongue in cheek, wow!! The celebrity bit was a bit cringe worthy but I'm glad my daughter has free access to prime as I cant wait for the next episode..
Really enjoyed it, camera work was fantastic and a level above the beeb. There was some silly movements but that's to be expected its been that way for a while now if people don't like it don't watch it.
I have to say that as rather good, it did indeed feel more natural with the three of them on top form I thought. Really looking forward to seeing the rest of it
Pretty much exactly what I expected to see - A bigger budget Top Gear without the Top Gear branding. Surely nobody was foolish enough to expect those three clowns to completely re-invent themselves? As for the cringe factor - I remember moments likes that on the old show, and still enjoyed it overall. I'll continue to watch it.
No big budget needed back when it was good:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKv_RvZ6OGk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQh56geU0X8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?annot...&feature=iv&src_vid=m3xnsRrKebQ&v=Aa_YupAVO8E
It's the same recycled stuff. "Oh electric is so slow lets race" "Oh roadworks are so slow" "James May is very slow" Their relationship is quite stale. However (!) the track stuff was entertaining - the M2 was good, The American was an great change and cinematography is obviously top class. I'm trying to work out where their track is now. EDIT: OK the second half is much better.
Yeh it is the same recycled stuff but its really hard to be original these days I feel and yeh it's scripted but aren't most entertainment shows these days. I'm gonna keep watching for sure, well until I end up having to pay for it lol.. New Track ...only about 30 miles up the M4 from where I live.
The danger sign on the electrical substation Jezza drove past says "Science Museum, Wroughton", which gives RAF Wroughton, an ex-RAF base now used by the Science Museum for storing their larger exhibits.
Watched it last night and was howling at points... all of us loved it and thought it was first class. Not feeling any of the cringe moments at all, but hey it's a matter of taste. Don't think I could actually say a single bad thing about it. Hang on a minute, did you just dis TGT without having watched an entire episode?! YOU'RE FIRED!
Who said the budget mattered? The Reliant Robin piece was one the those contrived cringe-inducing moments I referred to in my earlier post.
I thought the conversation with the owners club was unscripted and very natural from all concerned. Of course the rolls were scripted but still funny i thought. Regarding my budget comment; that's all I seem to reach online regarding this reboot..they've spent 120 million or whatever. If the content is not up to scratch it does not matter. A bit like that Pearl Harbor film. The BL one was made for 20 pence but was hilarious. And the bit where Jeremy's Fiat stretch limo snapped in half and his subsequent phone call to Hammond was unscripted gold.
I have kids so had to watch it in ~3 parts. I never get a whole hour alone. I did laugh my ass off at the Reliant stuff at the time. Can't remember the limo one though.
Watch the short clip I posted...classic. James in the Alfaab. (Alfa Romeo and a Saab welded together)
Amazon "The Grand Tour" November 18th I liked it but I'd seen part of it before did link it but realised massive spoiler the above before both were entertaining From a Chris Harris vid Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Watched it last night. Other than the American brown nosing I thought it was really good, and I'm not even a Top Gear fan really (can take it or leave it). However, as we pay for Prime I figured sod it, may as well get my moneys worth. I actually LOLed at the poo bit and "Can you s**t yourself to death?" but then I would, as I am terribly childish. Will watch more of them, good way to kill an hour
