I'm gonna go ahead and make the assumption that the article is referencing USB3.1 Gen 2, rather than Gen 1 (the connection used in your link) as I don't think any board currently has a front panel header that supports Gen 2.

Good luck trying to keep this thing smudge & dust free.

..cleaning it will drive you bonkers, I guarantee it.

There are motherboards with internal USB 3.1 ports. The MSI X99 Titanium has one, for example. ;)

List of USB 3.1 ports on the X99 Titanium:

    USB 3.1 ports(Front)
    1(Gen1, Type C), 4(Gen1, Type A)

    USB 3.1 ports (Rear)
    1(Gen2, Type A),1 (Gen2, Type C), 6(Gen1, Type A)

Unfortunately "only" Gen1 and despite that it is still among the best boards when it comes to USB 3.1...

Intel needs a kick in the teeth so they make sufficient bandwidth available for mainboards to go 3.1 Gen2 exclusive.

Anybody know if you can replace the HD fans for the LL ones and still use the hub.
