    Colour me unsurprised.

Considering that the original E3 trailer is still their main promotional item, I expect them to get something of a kicking. Not from the ASA mind, but once they confirm in writing that's what's being peddled and what's available aren't the same thing there'll be a refund queue down the street.

Sony were providing the marketing for NMS, so it'll be interesting to see who handled distributing which videos/screenshots to different stores, and the marketing claims in general copy.

Being investigated by ASA will amount to zilch, like most bodies in the UK tasked with keeping varies industries under scrutiny they are for the most part toothless bodies set up by government to give he impression to us plebs that they actually care that companies such as utilities suppliers regularly rip off their customers.

My thoughts exactly would be better if they could bite but they cannot so it's pretty much a waste of time.

Well. ASA can force removal and subsequently prevent them from reusing of current advertising if it is found to be complete BS - Which from what I've seen of this NMS/HG whirlwind, is very likely.

Im very curious go far that'll go to rebuilding the bridges they burned. Reddit doesn't seem too positive yet, but its always like that.

I don't think it will be enough to get me back to the game.

I think that people expected too much from NMS. Just looks like great fun to me.

Was it the case that this kind of update was always in the works to be released and everyone knew it , and complained early unfairly, or was this one of mainy updates was completely unexpected?

Some one that did not know about everything about this game could ask the obvious question about all the early takers of this growing game.

Was updates to build more game not expected or announced, ?

They advertised it as a finished game not as early access, so it was perfectly fine to complain about it regardless if they promised to add more stuff post launch or not.

Pretty sure that's true of every game these days that isn't the usual brown shooter.

    Or superbright rgb shooter.

See, that's the problem: It really wasn't fun. I didn't buy the game, knew nothing about the game beforehand and still felt robbed.

Heavily advertising a product using certain features that the product does not have should not be excused or tolerated, no matter the genre.

Whereas I had fun, did buy the game, knew nothing about the game beforehand, and felt 50 or 100 hours or whatever it was was still a respectable investment to say the least.

Whether I can be arsed to go back in the game to build a base is another question. Only if it's teeming with life and such, which it won't be.

    ASA bins the investigation:

    http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matth...mans-sky-marketing-did-not-mislead-customers/

So apparently the ASA simply didn't care about promises made elsewhere :wallbash:
