You forgot to mention that you need to be 12 or younger to buy the fan. Well, you don't NEED to be, but all the people that want this probably will be.

Don't look at me: my case doesn't even have a window!

Am I the only one who has no desire whatsoever to have my PC lit up like the Blackpool illuminations? This new trend for LEDs with everything doesn't do anything at all for me.

Down with this sort of thing!

It is possible to light up a pc tastefully these days and having everything matching your rooms ambient lighting helps.

Didn't know lighting in PCs was a new thing...

We have more options and abilities to be tasteful than ever before and people just moan. C'mon

    What's wrong with choice?

Some people like their cases lit up some don't.

If you don't like lights don't buy them, pretty simple lol.

I'm sorry, did I say it was a new thing entirely? I said that the trend for having lighting on everything is new. I don't remember seeing many motherboards or GPUs with integrated RGB LED lighting before a year or so ago.

And I'm not moaning, I'm just saying that (IN MY OPINION - caveat required because this is the Internet) this stuff doesn't appeal to me. Like Gareth, my case doesn't even have a window :D If you, or anyone else, likes it then I'm delighted for you :)

Got the RGB fitttings going into a current build, must say I'm really not looking forward to the cabling. That said, the effect is fantastic with frosted tubing.

I bet if we go look back at some forum posts from 2003/4 we'll see plenty of acrylic cases desperately waiting for this fan to come along.

the thing with RGB is that it is so versatile, before, buying a motherboard for a show build basically depended on the colour and if not, how easily you could paint it or change the colour of the heatsinks to fit the build. With RGB lighting instead of coloured mobo's, GPU's Fans and anything else, it doesn't matter which you get.

I love RGB, not when it is all flashing and going crazy, but when it is set to 1 single colour to match the build.

Personally, I LIKE colored lighting. Static and monochrome. Animation is just too much for my elderly sensibilities. But programmable LED lights DO make it easy to dial in a consistent color scheme.
Don't even need a case window for a colored fan, though. I had a white-lit fan in a fully-opaque case several years ago. The glow off the back was actually pretty cool(and made it a lot easier to find connectors sometimes)

Wouldn't work for me: my PC is, and always has been, under my desk to the right of my feet where I can't see it. I very rarely find myself fiddling around with connectors, either: I've got a USB 3.0 hub on the desk with micro-SD and SD card readers, which covers most uses, and one end of an HDMI cable for the capture card.

I spend most of my time trying to reduce the amount of light coming off my machines - my HP MicroServer has masking tape over the logo 'cos it glows an ungodly bright blue all night otherwise!

Ah, yes, the good ol' power light laser cannon. Hate those.

    ...

Yes, I just agreed about too much light being horrible not two hours after admitting to installing lit fans. I am truly a paradox.

Does this mean "Christmas tree" fans are back in vogue?
    ...Oh, wait. Antec. Probably not.

I was thinking about this in the context of a pc lit up in red :naughty:
