My wife's Dutch and we're looking at having to go through the whole thing as well. I have no idea what would happen if her application were to be turned down as I, like most Brits, don't speak any other languages and my job is in a somewhat specialist field largely centered around the Nottingham area (lightning protection).

She'd be fine, she speaks 4 languages fluently and remote IT support in one country is pretty much the same as any other.

Infected saliva gland of all things, along with a probable throat infection. Only way I can describe it is tooth ache but not the tooth plus a general feeling of being punched in the side of the face.

    Office 365 migration.

The process itself is not that hard, but I've got 10 years worth of email for 600 mailboxes to carefully plan the migration for.

Who though Public Folders were a good idea?

Why on earth does one need to save 10 years worth of emails?

I finally got around to trying out the secondary 7" monitor in my desk build.

... and it was borked :waah:

... so I contacted the seller, who, given how long ago I bought it might have told me to pass off :worried:

... but didn't. Instead they offered me a refund or a new screen, and I took the latter as I had already built the panel around that particular screen

... then they told me they were out of stock and refunded my $48.00 :duh:

... which I spent on buying another, hopefully identical, screen from another seller for $30. :hip:

Crisis averted, but still, it would have been nice if it had worked from the start.

I feel your pain, mid migration from Exchange 2010, to 2013 and some weirdos are getting Exchange 2016.

Public folders just don't work, DL's and rules don't carry over they break or vanish an shared mailboxes for some reason are not being migrated so 2013 you have to map using the old server name which is OK that can be automated sometimes it flops but its a quick fix. 2016, nope relies on auto discover an will not accept the 2010 Exchange server ID's...

    Yay for progress,

Oh also we have 40K users an are only allowed to migrate 500 a night.

Audit purposes usually, same where I am

My previous employer was in middle of migrating the company's emails *to* exchange [from IBM Domino iirc] and... well...

Lets just say I didn't have working emails the entire time I was...

First day back in work after 3 months off.

    Same old red tape.
    Same old bureaucracy.
    Same old lack of direction.
    Same old useless managers.
    Same old unchallenging work.
    Same old backstabbing.
    Same old office politics.
    Same old ********.

Enough is enough. I've already found 6 external jobs to apply for today.

Second Hamster died after 3 months, I'm pretty damn certain the place we buy them at somehow magically program them to die at 3 months so you have to buy another... (as sick as it seems)

Get out of there ASAP Byron... On Monday morning, I handed in my notice at a job I should have left 2 years ago. Sadly I hung on for too long and it did a lot of damage to my health and, to a certain extent, my career as well.

What's made my day particularly difficult is the turbo dying on the hire van I've been driving whilst my own is having accident damage repaired. I thought it was quite a good little van but remind me to never buy a Fiat! I'm now driving a massive Renault Master until tomorrow because it's all Enterprise had to replace the Doblo with, then I'm getting a smaller van again tomorrow when one comes back off hire and gets turned around. Such a disaster!

Trust me, I'm not hanging around. In 13 years of working for that company I have never had to take time off like I did recently. No matter how stressful it's been, how busy it's been, how many late nights I've worked (and for an office job I've had my fair share of 1am finishes), how much work I've had to juggle, how often I've had to work away... I had never got to the point where I couldn't face going in and even pretending to work; not until I started working for the department I'm currently in. I'm in a job I don't enjoy; doing work which is - and I know how arrogant this is going to sound - way below my pay grade; working for managers I don't like and disagree with on almost every point; working alongside people with whom I have absolutely nothing in common; working in a department which doesn't need me; and working for a company whose core business I increasingly object to on moral and ethical grounds.

No, I'm not staying there. I already applied for 5 jobs elsewhere earlier this evening. Right now contract work is looking very appealing: for the work I do the average day rate for contractors is more than double what I earn now.

    If only I could...

I am quietly making a lot of mailboxes disappear - if no one speaks up then I'll get away with it :thumb:

It's got easier now we're into the swing of it and know who, what, where and when

My 22" LG Monitor had to die today after only 8 years. Bad quality but I fixed it again. I hope this one lasts for another 8 years.

Annoyingly we cant get away with that along with the stupid public folders, I purged a few to a network drive but apparently that's not a secure solution...

Still having issues with the saliva gland putting it bluntly, had a massive splurge of gunk come out of it while I was out leading to instant vomiting. Not what you plan while going round Tesco.

My back has given out. I can't stand up straight. This isn't the first time it's happened but it's the first time it's happened while I've also been suffering from plantar fasciitis. I have the gait of a Jim Henson muppet.

I feel your pain - I got up off the sofa last Thursday and something went in my back too. Last time it happened was in 2010 and I was in so much pain I ended up on morphine and had over 6 weeks off work... Thankfully this time it's not as bad but I'm still sore a week later. Not on as strong pills this time either which is good - all 3 that I'm on now though 'may cause drowsiness' and when I take more than 2 of them at once I feel kinda floaty and odd for a while afterwards :D :D
