Who knows what the rest will be, note the Renualt has rear facing fins from the wing anchors extending quite far back, an FI have basically split the nose. interesting to see the others.
I wonder what's going on in the heads of the other designers in F1. Mercedes have turned up with a conventional nosecone and smashed them all three years in a row. Whatever benefit those little peckers are supposed to give, they clearly either don't create it in the real world or they compromise aero further back on the car in ways the rest of the field haven't cottoned onto yet.
http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2017/02/...edes-amg-f1-w08-launch-silverstone-england-6/ Mercedes show their car just before the launch.
Well Note the wing on the side pod is enormous Interesting backend, not seen slats on the floor in the other cars Another with the side pod wing, also the barge board is interesting with the upper structure and a huge Sduct going on http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2017/02/...edes-amg-f1-w08-launch-silverstone-england-8/
That wing behind the suspension is something the other cars don't seem to have. Honestly - that thing looks FAST.
Huzzah! 2017 will have at least one car that is unequivocally good looking! Once again it doesn't have a chubbie, most likely it will kick arse again too.
Aside from being a great video, look at the Merc diffuser! Forget double diffuser, this thing's got three layers, four if you count the little stacked centre elements as two.
"Over the next few weeks before Melbourne we will change practically every aerodynamics related part and try out various designs" Sounds like not actually the final design. Of course that could be a misdirection to frustrate copy attempts from the competition.
Not a fan of those side pod inlets - almost like a upside down (and not near as pronounced) version of McLaren's "U-Shape" pods from 2011/2012(?). But that Merc LOOKS RAPID. Seriously intimidating. Force India have somehow managed to go from the best looking nose in 2016, to one of the worst since the Lotus 2-pronged monstrosity... Well done, lads.
Holy Frowny Sidepod Intakes, Batman. Notably: they have similar winglets to Merc (which I expect will be followed by various others as well). They also have a giant wing on the sharkfin... Seems like a taller front suspension (Merc and FIndia are said to have that, too) and about a billion winglets all over the show... Looks a bit "messy" to my completely untrained eyes. Edit: And here's the new (orange!) McLaren:
Does a tad, im watching the livestream for the MCL32, looks like its being filmed in some bond villain lair, very interesting car though.
WTF do Mclaren play at with their paint jobs? Just paint it orange, paint the whole damned car orange and it will look gorgeous. This one's not terrible, but it could be so much better.
