As normal Nvidia know exactly what they are doing business wise. Rizen hype is going to see an explosion of new rigs, and what company is positioned to give you the shiny new gpu to go in it?

If the only change to the 1060 is the memory clock (up from 8Gbps to 9Gbps) the 1070 will still be a lot faster.

TBH it makes sense if the 'new' 1060 replaces the existing 6GB 1060 at the same price point.

Just had a quick look on Nvidia's site and they say the 1070 achieves 8 Gbps, I'm not making any predictions on where exactly the new 1060 will sit in the lineup but it seems awfully close to the 1070.

Very good news, I'm happy to see that it won't be like >£700 card.
Time to sell my 980Ti now.

Would you guys wait for 3rd party coolers, OCed editions or buy reference one?

Affects already being felt? OcUK has a bunch of really cheap B-Grade 1080's up at the minute - just picked up an MSI Aero OC for £390.

    I don't know...

Reference 1080ti will be available soon enough to upgrade everything at once along with Ryzen, waiting for custom cards plus waiting even longer to see which custom cards get waterblocks will result in having to upgrade twice in short succession...

    Those pesky first world problems:sigh:

Not too bad all things considered. I'm tempted.

That is bloody awesome news! I hope it's an active one and that it's more robust.

Lucky for me I don't pay VAT, still too steep for me mind. I am hope to be able to pick up a 1070 Strix for £300 ex VAT.

Just looked at overcloclers and they have the strix for £400 after cashback inc vat so I could get one now for £330 so nearly there. Who knows come june when I am next in the UK to do my big buy I may be able to afford a 1080!

Edit: Just looked and with the cashback on overclockers I can get a 1080 strix for £430, I'm getting a little excited

Cards will come with a DVI adapter in the box already.

    Edit: Didn't see Dutch's post...

8Gbps is merely the memory speed. The 1070 has 1920 CUDA cores and a 256bit memory interface vs the 1280 CUDA cores and 192bit memory interface of the 1060. The 1060 would need a lot more than a memory clock speed bump to get close to a 1070.

I am kind of surprised that we haven't seen a 1060TI to fill the gap between he two cards. There would easily be room for a ~1500 core 256bit 8GB GDDR5 card to fill the performance gap.

A £2 passive HDMI > DVI adapter will keep your monitor good for a few more years. Or just get a DVI>HDMI cable - £5 will cover one.

Probably happening though as DVI doesn't do 4K - HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 can. That and passive HDMI>DVI adapters work and are dirt cheap

Pre-orders are open at Nvidia, £699 inc. VAT and delivery. No free games to sweeten the deal though.

Retailers aren't getting a look in yet.

Unfortunately I need an active adaptor as my screen is 1600p. The bundled one looks passive. Ho hum.
I'm getting Ghost Recon: Wildlands free I think.

No, they don't work. You need a powered adapter like these:

I have a couple - one in use, and the other as a spare.

They ain't cheap, but it's still much cheaper than replacing a 30" monitor.
