Intel in their arrogance drop prices??? Seriously, If they were going to drop prices they would have done so before now IMO.
If nothing else 'older' Kaby Lake stock will drop in price as vendors flush it out for the replacement SKUs.

Cheers Tom I went with a 1600 - I picked the CPU and the CH6 Hero up for £405 (including delivery). With the Be Quiet! Silent Loop AIO 240 the 1600 is clocked @3.9GHz 1.35V, full load package (all cores) stress temps are just 60°C, the memory is running at 14 14 14 28 1T @ 3000MHz. It's bang per buck performance especially in comparison to the Intel equivalent is nothing short of phenomenal!! I sh*t you not, it's exceeded all expectation

Thank you both, much appreciated @spolsh, here's some substance to what I've said - I'm running the my 1600 at 3.9GHz 1.35V (stress tested and stable) with the memory now singing at 14 13 13 13 28 1T @ 3000MHz 1.35V (even my AsRock Z170m OC Formula coudn't pull those timings off). This yields a consistent score of 1310-1311 in Cinebench R15 x64. My 1070 purrs along scoring a Unigine Valley Benchmark 1.0 score of 4954 at a resolution of 2560x1080 (in line with bit-tech GPU test settings of DX11 'Ultra' settings, 0x AA for comparison).

Finally got my Ryzen workstation / server up and running. R7 1700, Asus PRIME X370-PRO, 32GB Crucial 2400MHz DDR4, Noctua NH-U9S. For graphical grunt I've gone for the powerhouse that is a Gainward GTS 450 1GB Edition (well it's not for gaming and it needs to display a picture somehow.. That was the closest of my spare cards to me when I was building it ) (Click for full size) Difficult to make it look beautiful in a 4U case with literally no cable management but I'm happy that I've managed to keep the airflow as unobstructed as possible considering the sheer number of cables to connect up everything (10 HDDs, 3 optical drives, 7 fans etc) Applied a quick and dirty overclock to 3.7GHz leaving all the voltages on auto for now and achieved the following The Noctua cooler is keeping the temperature at about 62 degrees under load too which considering the ambient temperature in here is about 26 degrees is very impressive in my opinion for a 92mm cooler. Out of interest I just did the same 5 runs of H.264 Realbench on my i7-4770K @ 4.4GHz and the fastest of the 5 runs was 66.697s Hopefully will get a chance to have a proper play and get some more stuff set up tomorrow
Haven't had any chance to have a proper tinker today but did update the chipset drivers and enabled the Ryzen Windows power plan. Not sure what it's done but it seems to have made a fair difference
I did have a couple of random 'crashes' yesterday. It was almost exactly like the PC had gone to sleep and wouldn't wake up. Even holding down the power button didn't shut it down - had to flick the switch on the PSU. That was probably it as it's not done it today despite being left idle for a few hours.
