Yeah me too. TBH I think they both look glorious. Finally had a chance to push things a little further today. Got it up to 3.9GHz but with a little bit more voltage than I'd want to run this at 24/7 (1.39V) so dialled it back a little and got things stable at 3.85GHz at 1.35V. Considering the cooling I'm happy with that voltage and the Noctua cooler is keeping things under 70 degrees (more like 68 degrees max) during benches, encoding etc. Prime95 is a bit higher but liveable with (under 75 degrees) Some updated benches:
Noice heat is not really the enemy with Ryzen, it just seems to crap out around 4ghz. Talking of Ryzen.. Any one need some new tiles?
Yeah - even booting at 4ghz seems to be beyond my chip (or at least beyond the voltage I'm willing to give it right now). I'm sure with better cooling this could easily go further. Haha - love the size of that cpu - the first time I saw a picture of the socket I thought 'that's the size of a credit card' and then dismissed that thought and just put it down to the picture. Now I've seen that I'm thinking I was right the first time Wonder if it has contactless built in?

Seeing as AsRock have crammed an X299 into ITX, will we see an X399 in the same form factor, you know, because reasons
I reckon it could be done but it would probably need a 90' board with some phases on and I am not sure Asrock would do that. Asus have, but yeah, Asrock usually like to keep it all on one board.

I suspect even with a daughterboard for the VRM it would require a proprietary redesign of the cpu retention mechanism and cooler mount to shrink the socket a bit as well as abandoning quad channel memory, possible? I'll go out on a limb and say yes, but going to happen? Nah.
I'm running a pre AGESA 1.0.0.6 beta (hence why the memory values aren't detected correctly), I've got my memory dialed in at 14 14 14 28 1T @ 3200MHz which has benched as follows - I'm quite chuffed with that seeing as the 1600 is only running at 1.33V 3.9GHz to achieve it.
The same memory/OC settings now yield a constant score of 1317/18 in Cinebench R15 also, very very happy with that
