Just started (re)playing Mass Effect on Xbone and Mass Effect 2 on PC. Taking some getting used to. I was genuinely surprised at how well ME:2 holds up tbh. ME less so but that will be partly because it is running on effectively a 360. What I am less impressed with is the auto saving, or lack thereof. I died right at the end of mission only for it to me back a good hour or so. Considering the objectives completed I was expecting an auto save closer to where I died. *Grumble grumble*.
Sniper elite 4 I think this is a game to far in this franchise as it has little to do with sniper though it is one of the three weapons you carry. Far too many collectables, 30+ per level which means far to much time wandering around looking for them. And if you have used your binoculars to scan the enemies the tag will tell you if they are carrying a collectables except unless you have stealth killed them it is difficult to find them after a long shot, which means a missed collectable. Hopefully this will be the last game in this franchise unless of course they go the MoH, CoDd or Battlefield route and pump a game out annually which is the same old same old.
Fallout 4. Never played a Fallout game before (stupid me) and unfortunately, as with Skyrim, I fear I may just wander the wastelands for far too long before remembering there is a story in it as well. Loving it so far.
Then I'm glad I played this first May pick up FO3 for use on the laptop later down the line, at least this way around I'm not disappointed
After about a year of owning it I finally got around to playing XCOM 2...and it's stressing me out. Is my over-familiarity with the first skewing my judgement, or is this sequel much harder?
I'm playing XCOM 2 on Legendary difficulty. It's not a strategy game any more - it's a puzzle game in which you have to figure out the correct next move iteration by iteration, saving/loading all the way. On the other hand, I took down the Viper King (DLC rulers pack) first time. Now the Berzerker Queen is turning up. Equip the special weaponry you get investigating that crash site and you're okay though - it doesn't completely break the game as many people say it does. However, you're completely screwed if you try to tackle them without having access to decent guns and armour.
Playing Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which is way outside my comfort zone. Games like this I find a bit too complex with all the crafting, skill trees, alchemy and levelling up and combat is pretty annoying. But I have played through this once a while back and now I am exploring the white question marks more, doing a lot of quests other than the story but I seem to have so many that I am not able to do because as yet I am not of a high enough level and moving up seems to take a while. But things are better now that one or two of the bombs actually hurt enemies and I even took out a rather annoying creature in a cave just using the crossbow which generally is worse than useless except against Drowners underwater. Overall good game.
A very heavily modded Fallout 3 that looks better than Fallout 4. Started out slow grind, decided that once I could take down a Super Mutant Master in one VATS I would tackle Vault 87. So I just came out of that and I'm at the Enclave. Must remember to pick up the bobblehead ! Got a sound issue (stuttering) with my Asus sound card. Might swap it out for the XFI TIT later.
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam Learning to slow down and not yolo rush like a mad person can be a bit rage inducing
F1 2016 I've never played an F1 game before, despite enjoying the sport so I picked this up for cheaps. Much fun is being had! I just finished my 1st season with Red Bull and thought the 2nd season would logically be easier since I now know what I'm doing. Boy, was I wrong! Even though the car is technically the best there, I'm struggling keeping it on track or posting decent lap times. GTAV I played 1 through 4 in my teens (and younger for 1) though I never did finish 4 (it got boring near the end for some reason). These were the games that defined my teen years so I was incredibly excited to finally be playing 5. I have to say, it's a beautiful game and very enjoyable, but it lacks something, it feels almost disjointed. Like having too many writers attempting to all throw their ideas in. I don't need 3 main characters with different yet intertwined and completely absurd storylines. Just give me one guy (or girl) with one hell of a storyline (like Vice City, which is my favourite). I watched every cutscene in Vice City because I wanted to understand the story, but I find myself wanting to skip them in 5 because they just seem so forced and boring. Having said all that, I will finish it because I am having many funs World of Warships I'm useless at it and get blown up more often than not, but it's just epic amounts of fun. It's a bit of a slog when trying to move up the ship tree sometimes but totally worth it.
I thought GTAV was a bit... rubbish really. The plot was absolute cobblers, but without any of the humour that usually makes the GTA games enjoyable. The protagonists were all unlikable and ridiculous and overall, while it was an impressive technical achievement, it just lacked that certain something. I'm not sure if it's heart, or soul, or what, but the game is too cold and lifeless.
Wipeout: Omega Collection Fired this up last night on the PS4 Pro. Seeing Wipeout in 60FPS, 4k glory is awesome. The effects have been touched up too (and I think the textures in particular in the case of 2048), so it's not 'just' a straight port with a higher resolution. Just wished I didn't play it before bedtime - took me ages to calm down!
I was half way through a Specialist-only playthrough a few weeks back, it's cheese mode on steroids! Half down hacker tree, half down medic, everyone gets silly amounts of overwatch, if they stay still they can all use a Gremlin action and still fire/overwatch, robotic enemies or turrets just get shocked to death/shut down/hacked and if the nutella really hits the spoon, Restoration quickly makes everyone smile again. I got REALLY lucky with my hidden ability perks too (such as a combat hacker that can shred armour, and a Run & Gun medic!). I really want to do a full ranger playthrough, just because I always found the combo of Run & Gun, Implacable and Untouchable made for some awesome, Ramboesque moments.
Guild Wars 2. Amazing world. A genuine MMO now. (GW1 was instanced world). Loving it. BRINK. I'm a stickler for playing games I own and playing as much as possible before dropping them. In any case pretty fun mechanics albeit it's dead.
Just noticed this was posted last night while we were all focused on the election: http://steamcommunity.com/games/268500/announcements/detail/1323343670317570058
I bought Dying Light - really enjoying it. Unlike other Open world games like Far Cry for example, this has a real sense of urgency. It's on the edge of your seat stuff.
