You may have noticed that there are now stars in the prefix of some thread titles. What do they do? What do they mean?! Well, calm down, I am here to tell you. They look like this: They are basically to say that the project has been entered into either our Mod of the Month competition or our Modding Update competition. Any thread which has a star is a contender - Simple! Why have we done this? Well, one, it helps us to see who has been entered into the competition already and two, it means by clicking on the prefix you can see ALL of the entries that have been entered in the past months with a single click of a button, pretty awesome huh? It is only bit-tech staff and forum admin/mods that can apply these prefixes. So, that is it, have no fear, the stars are nice and they will not harm you.
Oh this is pretty cool. Hmm, could have a silver star for when the build is entered into one of the above comps, and then a gold star if it wins?
It could be done, but I don't really want too many separate prefixes. We already have 11 in the Project Log section! just click the prefix and it will show you all threads with stars
Can we have it so that competition/voting threads have a colour different to all others? They can get shoved down and are hard to spot, but I do like my vote
I actually have a question, it's fine and all that we can choose who wins either competition that month - but who actually pick the contenders from the beginning, before stars are added? Like i mean, is it determined because of some parameters or is it staff who choose or something else I have not thought about? I understand it's only staff who can add the stars, but that don't necessarily mean they also have the power to decide who is competing
It’s the way it’s always been, staff picks each month. Any particular part you disagree with though? The criteria are purposefully kept very open and vague so as to allow a good selection of builds to be eligible. Certainly when looking through a log I work on a few principles. How well is the mod being executed? Is there something being done that’s novel/unique? What are the circumstances of the mod? Is it just lots of pictures of hardware? Quality of the project log itself IMO it’s better to judge each build on a case by case basis than try to categorise things too much.
Ah ok, so no defined way but all of staff have their own opinion, i guess thats a fair way of doing it. Thanks for trying to clarify
