News EVGA launches 'Untouchables' EPower V VRM card

Surely power hasn't been holding pack any GPU architecture for a few years now? I understand this is fully intended for pro overclockers using LN2 and such, but even with 3rd party cards specifically designed to be pushed to the limit, that limit is in the frequency the GPU can go to I would have thought.

Might be good for absolute fine control and stability, though.

 

Power delivery definitely has been holding back cards on liquid nitrogen. The Titan X Maxwell was pulling over 500A per card on LN2.

Easily. It was tripping OCP which was at 500A.

Nope. 500A at say 1.5v is only 750w drawn at the GPU side, not through 12v.

 

I thought you meant 500a @ 12v, as that would be more like 6000w

Nvidia has been enforcing a voltage limit on card manufacturers for years, if they allow the voltage to go above a certain point they can't hold nvidia responsible for anything, which is why all the premium price cards with their gajillion phases and ultra abusable caps have close to zero variation in OC potential.
Of course that limit can be modded and then with LN2 added to the mix the sky is the limit.

 

Nah, 500A at GPU ish volts with frequency to match.

The limit is only to do with extreme cooling. You'll never even dream of air or water cooling that kind of power usage.

I was talking about the nvidia imposed limitations that make mods like the ones mentioned here necessary.
(yes, obviously completely pointless on air / water)
