*Name change to suit to mod better and keep the modding fun and light hearted*

It's been a long time between mods but of late ive caught the RGB sickness..
A plague that seems to be spreading thru the the modding community like wildfire.

It started years ago in a modding community far far away with a single LED light tube here and a bit of lit plex there to what i'm about to now share.

I'm not proud of it and it's almost a piss take of what i see happening in modding today :)

So sit back and watch what might be my final modding horrah and have a bit of a laff at what has come full circle :)

This old banger started life as a Octek branded Compaq midi tower (P3 i think) it was a bin find i had plans to do some thing with it just never knew what that actually was going to be.
Until one day i sat the chassis back down upside down and had a moment of madness.
Warning.... pic flood inc. Put yer welding gogs on things are ganna get bright.

    Almost sad.

    This is all i want

Then it's over to the disco for some boogie action.

The chassis gets FLIPPED + some dremel action, loosing its front and top. Add a few coats of base white to hide the old grey for now.

The first mod will be the PSU cover it's as good a place as any to start.

The old DIY line bender from the old days is dug out and fired up .. ahhh it's starting to come back to me now :)

WOW that's the first mod out of the way :)

Lets Do another ! A Mother board tray cover! <<<< poetry too!

Maybe some thing to hold the fans... i got an idea ! :)

Righteo! that's the basic internal panels outa the way ..... I hope yer still werin ya weldin gogs.

    The real sickness begins....

Some RGB action for the PSU cover.

This is a basic light edge. To stop the LED bleeding like mad thru the white plex some white paint and block out vinyl is used. Very artsy and craftsy.

As yas can see complete block out

    Some Glue..... snif snif

Oops i snuck in an LED strip in the break.....

Beeeep beeep (add in crane lowering sound)

Snug as a bug in a......

    RGB disco rug!

Theres a million of these... but i think yas get the idea :) and your starting to see the extent of my sickness!

Next is some of the same sickness for the back panel. All done the same way using clear plex white paint blockout vinyl and some imagination.... snif snif!

I've never seen a case of RGB-itis hit so fast! It looks lovely, just avoid the rainbow strobe option. It's key to you surviving this.

    Back to the Front!

The front panel will be an open fan type, old skool all show and no go! thankfully i dont have a dust problem.

    Anyways hygiene aside lets mod....

The front will be a chunk of plex and then some.... 5 layers total of 6mm and 2mm plex.

First job on the agenda is to drill the centre holes

Then it's time to make some holes...

Channels are added for the LED strips to sit in

For power and reset im adding this old block salvaged from and old ship wreck

back form some more router work

An exit channel is added to rout the wire out.

A qick fit up and test. As yas can see the LED strips can be easily slid in and out for qik replacement or upgrade.

For the back-est of the panels ive used an old speaker grill trick from my speaker building days adding some magnets
to help hold the unit in place. A top and bottom bracket will be also used.

Then its time to add the block out film Laura Palmer style!

All the layers can now be sealed and clamped

Then it's back to the router for some sexy edging work...........

1 input to 4 outputs and it's Disco!

The blockout film does its job of not allowing any light thru the front panel.

And the same for the back

Cheers mate, the secret so far is that this whole mod has been done with left over scraps. @ some point it looks like im going to have to hit the hip pocket for sides...

Dude I've learned more about adding light strips to mods in this one thread than the last 9 months of trial and error. I'm definitely copying you on that PSU cover :p

You may have more plexi than me. -Although I keep finding stuff like pvc and corian.
You could either get creative with the layering, or look behind furniture a little more. I swear I have sheets tucked behind cabinets I completely forgot about.

    Back Panel Update.

This was one of those mods i wish i never started..... a real fiddly pain in the royal @ss.....

It starts with a single layer then 3 more are added.

That's then routed while on the case

PM if you have a use for this crap/./.....

    cut this

    to this

Next is to "hollow out" 3 layers 20mm +solid plex................

And glue it to the inside of the back panel

    Then add some LED's!

And Presto! Some more RGB magic
