Halt and Catch Fire OST, by Paul Haslinger:

It's the CD version, but comes in a neat-o gatefold-style package with liner notes in one side and a slip designed to mimic Mutiny's Parallax installation floppy in t'other. Lovely stuff!

^ At first glance I thought it was an actual floppy. Nice!

Whilst the rest of my family are away soaking up the sun in Portugal I decided I would treat myself to a proper cooler for the newly-acquired 980Ti Classy, so I got a Raijintek Morpheus II Core Edition from OCUK. I have to say the stock cooler for the Classy is really poor, giving load temps of 80C and also very loud.

This is my first experience with a Raijintek product and I'm thoroughly impressed with it - my load temps dropped by around 20C. Pricey at £55 but very much worth it to unlock the OC potential of the card and to have it cooled silently (fans are set to 1,000 rpm in BIOS).

(I think I was a bit gung-ho with the heatsink installation, but what the hey - I paid for them so I may as well use them lol. The blue heatsink is from an old Geforce graphics card.)

^ It is nice... very nice. Load temps now down to low 60s and cooler is completely inaudible. With higher speed fans I'm rockin' 1500MHz on the core and the temp doesn't go past 55C. It's crazy. I'm thinking about doing a mini-review because I'm so impressed with the product.

After 5 months of waiting, finally.

Sent RM first class signed for from the UK dealer, in a box clearly marked as a watch, for reasons I can't fathom. At least it's here in one piece...

    I'm a sucker for a windowed movement.

Undecided as to which strap I'll use more, like them both a lot.

    A proper strap being what?

I already have black and brown leathers and steel bracelets in the collection, this is my first rubber.

It's the name for their anti-shock system on the movement, or basically "pointless complication +1" in watch terms.

Bastardisation of Amortisseur, being the French word for damper (shock absorber).

Hey I've said it before, pick one up and we can check out each other's balls when we next catch up.

Check out the Magneto S for what IMO is one of the coolest complications on any watch short of a minute repeater.

Shame it makes it quite thick, and my girly wrists can't handle big balls like that. But you may have a better time with it, I mean, if thick balls are your thing.

    Good knowledge.

It stuck out to me because I'm familiar with the concept of amortisation from finance (e.g. the spreading of a debt over time) but I'd never seen such a term used in watchmaking before :D Makes sense for it to be some sort of damper or shock absorber though - in both cases, amortisation loosely means "killing off"...

And on top of that - after noticing a pleasant scent all evening and again this morning and assuming it was my wife, I've just realised that the strap smells of vanilla.
Presumably to work against to the unpleasant odour of the rubber.

    Scented ball straps, who'da thunk.
