I watched it in the cinema and it felt just about right. I love the secret bit at the end too although I would rather it was an Infinity War teaser.
Blade Runner 2049: Fantastic! Absolutely stunning movie, easily the best movie I have seen this year.
The Host (2007) 0/10 It was distinctly B-movie-ish from the start, and I was bored after an hour so I switched it off, which is an automatic zero in my book. The only reason I started watching it is because of the high score on Rotten Tomatoes (a whopping 93%). I am disappoint and bewilder. Sicario 9/10 Exceptionally good film. It's extremely sombre, immersive and hard-hitting, and certainly not an "entertainment" flick by any standards. I had no prior knowledge of the movie so I was expecting an action thriller... how wrong I was. I'd highly recommend this to people who like this genre (crime thriller). It reminded me a bit of "Blood Diamond", which is an equally moving and gripping piece of cinema. Stephen King's IT (1990) 4/10 LOL. That's all I got. Kick Ass 9/10 I've probably mentioned it already in this thread but it was on TV last night so I watched it. I like it more and more every time I see it. Wonderful movie.
War of the planet of the apes 4/10 This was a let-down compared to the previous two installments, but that's usually how it goes isn't it? The Dark Tower 7/10 Okay, so I have not read the books, but I quite liked this movie. It's mysterious, dark and distinctly Stephen King-y. However, I can't help but feel that it has been condensed too much. I just realised that the book series spans seven books, and not three. Maybe it's time for me to start reading some Stephen King again... The Lobster Weirdness...weirdness galore/10 I ... I just don't know what to say about this. It's something else, that is for sure.
Arrival 8.5/10 As usual I'm a bit late... Genuinely enjoyable. Feels like a proper sci-fi film built from a sci-fi idea, not just sci-fi attached to another genre or used as a backdrop. I've read complaints about the (slow-ish) pace, but it was perfectly fine for me. I had actually read about Spoiler the plot twist in this thread before but somehow completely forgot about it until it happens. Lucky. The few points of criticism I have are not worth mentioning. It's a great movie, and anyone who's even remotely interested in sci-fi (and hasn't seen it already) should watch it some time.
Blade Runner 2049 Hmmm/10 It was good, yes, and yes, I enjoyed it, no I didn't notice the thick end of three hours disappearing. I feel like it needs to percolate before I have any score to give.
Bloodsport - Forest Whitaker was in this?!/10 Used to be a tradition that me and my uncle would stay up late and watch classic 80's/90's martial arts films when I went to stay with him as a kid (he was a semi-professional kickboxer and I did a few years of it, too). Obviously didn't notice the campy acting and poorly written scripts back then, and even the actual choreography looks sloppy and slow compared to modern films like The Raid, but it's 90 minutes of fun, bromance and "feels good, man" at the end.
Double Impact - can't score Me and the Mrs have "ropey movie night" this was picked recently, it's awesome, I don't care, it's 80's cheese fest! Love it The Kingsman - The Golden Circle - 7/10 Doesn't have the same awesome feel as the first but I loved it plenty, needed more Channing for me though, very enjoyable and Elton John is hilarious!
The Babysitter - tentative 6.5/10 But it's tentative mainly because it could actually be better if the mood is just right. It's part Home Alone for the Twilight generation, part slasher flick, and parts of it gave me scream queens vibes... so that's all win for me. The wife, on the other hand, thought it was rubbish.
Are there loads of film studios who's soul aim is to produce low budget films with very bad acting, effects ETC? And if so why, as they are mainly unwatchable, so how would they make money even enough to cover production?
He means The Producers, about two Broadway producers who deliberately make 'the worst play in history' in an effort to con people out of money...
