And the representative of Britain to the rest of the world. :thumb:

BTW: no mention whatsoever of his speech in Dutch newspapers or on the Dutch news. Says it all, really.

I guess on the plus side of it all it's that the US is stuck seeing our other "representative" Farage verbally vomit on TV rather than us.

Of course there's no mention in the Netherlands, there's speed skating on. You can be silly sometimes. Tsk.

Well, they are a bit distracted by the passing of Ruud Lubbers, the Netherlands' longest serving Prime Minister from 1982 to 1994, who died yesterday (I swear I had nothing to do with it. I just happened to be in the country, is all). But nobody here in Holland has mentioned Brexit even once.

UKIP MEP successfully sued for libel by three Labour MPs. The legal costs look like they may bankrupt UKIP. Hilarious. :D

I am surprised that the UK isn't using security and defence as a negotiating chip tbh.

It's the one chip that can be used as a reason why we should have a special deal.

Not saying it'd be right to do that or not, just surprised.

Tried that back in the Lancaster House speech, and it didn't go down well. At a time when **** was going down in France, it was felt that the UK was happy to use the security of its own citizens and those of the EU as a bargaining chip.

Juncker has just now again drawn a firm distinction between security cooperation and trade negotiations. It won't wash.

Not only that but i think the UK's position on security runs contrary to the EU's, the UK is comfortable to forgo peoples human rights in the name of security whereas the EU seems to hold human rights in higher regard.

    Ukip sacks yet another leader:

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...no-confidence-emergency-meeting-a8215656.html

Also further complicated by the fact that when it comes to the military the UK has obligations regardless of the EU due to being in NATO.
The only thing the EU wants from the UK in regards to security corporation will be intelligence and that will be handled away from political or public scrutiny, so can't be used as a bargain chip in "on the record" negotiations.

Oh I know the logical reasons, but this Brexit, logic doesn't apply so that's why i'm surprised. :)
