I re-read Altered Carbon (that's not the original cover art), Broken Angels, and Woken Furies ahead of the Netflix adaptation of Altered Carbon, and now I seem to be on a bit of a Richard Morgan binge. Currently I'm re-reading Black Man (aka Thirteen in the US); I don't remember much about this book, so I'm giving it another chance. I also re-read Market Forces not long ago and I plan to read A Land Fit For Heroes again, because I just can't get on with the ending of that series

Compared to the other two novels I had a hard time with Broken Angels, but over the years it's grown on me. Woken Furies is still my favourite though.

Finally got around to reading the last Discworld book... a good send off for the series.
Also just finished an audiobook of Jim Butchers Skin Game (read by James Marsters (Spike from Buffy)) which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I've just picked up the Long Earth series.

A republic, not an Empire, Reclaiming America's Destiny.

Churchill, Hitler, and the unnecessary war: how Britain lost it's Empire and the west lost the world.

Well, I quite liked it. However, I am a bit torn with regards to Kim S. Robinson - he can go on ... and on ... and on ... quite a bit without progressing the story, but I am committed to finish the Mars trilogy. And it's the same thing with New York 2140. It starts off very well, creates a living world and a few interesting characters, but then he resolves a major part of the plot about two-thirds in, and then the rest of the book is just ... filler. Sort of like the man is contractually obliged to never hand in a manuscript under 600 pages.

But. for those of you who doesn't know yet; Consider Phlebas is being adapted for a TV-series. Something to look forward to...

    Seconded!!!

A TV series in the Culture universe could be excellent. Or they could ruin it.

Couldn't find it in stock online, so I bought it in Waterstones, at the busiest possible time of day.

Reading the Captain Underpants books, about half way through the series. I normally wouldn't post books that I am reading to my kids but I am really enjoying these toilet hummer books.

Oh just admit it; you don't even have kids, right?

(I've read those books for my kids as well, and I can attest to the fact that toilet/fart jokes works really well on the little uns - especially if you add sound effects...)

Mark Hardisty's Inlay, a collection of recreated cover art from classic games. Less 'reading,' more 'looking at the purty pictures,' but said pictures sure are purty. Just wish I'd splashed out on the considerably more expensive hardback version instead of the tradebook!

Inspired by the TV Expanse thread, I picked up part 1 - Leviathan Wakes from the library this week.
A lot of epic stuff has happened quite quickly - serious space opera action.

Once I've read enough, I'll start checking the TV show out.

I got inspired by a recent TV series as well and just finished Altered Carbon. God, the series is... different.

Just started The Whites by Richard Price.

    Different good? Different bad?

I did recently learn the reason for changing The Hendrix to The Raven: the Hendrix estate won't allow the name to be used in conjunction with anything violent. Fair enough, the hotel in question does sport a set of twin ceiling-mounted miniguns..
