I do love the look of it, although for such a beefy low profile mech it sure does like to topple over. I had to refit it for more AC/20 ammo as it chews through it as an fast rate and I also spec'd it for short range missiles; although in hindsight with the lack of mobility that might have been a mistake.

For anyone who is wondering I found it during a chance encounter during a standard mercenary contract with a just a 20 ton peashooter as its backup. It was one of those early systems like Ichlangis or Fjaldr, although it is quite RNG based what you face. Thankfully I managed to knock it down a few times and an ammo explosion finished off the pilot. This usually means 2/3 parts available so when I got the the salvage post mission screen to see 3 salvage parts available I was more than just a little happy! I've seen other high tonnage mechs before but always been left with 2/3 parts. Pretty sure I have a part of a Zeus-6S in the Mech Bay storage cupboard but still haven't seen another one.

Yeah I've had a few of those situations, think I had 110 days in the med bay was my max. I've had some laughable RNG moments; the most extreme example would be where on one of the campaign missions one of my ThunderBolt THR-5S/SE (which for a while became the backbone of my lance) was headshotted by a standard turret! lol

On a side note is anyone else running close to bankruptcy just so you get get all the salvage incase something good comes along? lol

That would explain my GPU temps! I'll take a look thanks.

    Greetings!
I have been negotiating for the 2/x savage, find 3/x is too risky for sometimes you just get scrap. I am usually in the 2-3 months financial reserves, but the
    Argo upgrades
    really burden my finances.

I miss having artillery (even the Revenge of the Crescent Hawks had it), some kind of ECM warfare (Raven in MechCommander) and 0,5 tons of ammo.
And I wish some mech build options werent allowed, JJs in Centurions?!

I often opt for 3/X if I know that there could be something of interest, like on the more difficult contracts but it is sure taking a toll on my finances. Half the time when I do there is nothing of value and I end up just completing salvaged mechs and then selling them. I have a feeling it works out to be about the same if you are careful.

Indeed, I've almost done them all now thankfully.

Yeah ECM warfare does sound interesting, maybe something they could add to a future expansion if it sells well.

I don't mind the flexibility in the build options, although I find myself rarely tweaking the stock builds that much beyond upgrading the weapons. You could always leave them stock if you don't want to go against the lore.

Well the a prototype of the raven was supposed to be in the game but was pulled for later release whilst they worked out the kinks of getting exm working propeely.

I'm sitting pretty at 24m in the bank so I'm busy floating around looking for solid salvage. Annoyingly the game isn't giving me decent equipment to kill.

Yeah I'm having to travel further afield to the areas with the higher difficulty rating to get anything worth keeping.

well im walking into the final mission atm with a Battlemaster, Zeus, Highlander and an Orion; which surprisingly makes a nice LRM boat, still want a catapult tho, those things are awesome.

Already? I'm still pottering about lol. I just nabbed myself a Highlander, first one I've seen as well. No spoilers btw or I'll be very annoyed! :p

I've had two catapults, the LRM one and the PPC one. Honestly they look cool but prefer another assault mech in the lineup over firesupport so I sold them. If I need a firesupport Mech I've gone for the Jagermech JM6-A, the mixture of AC/2 long range auto cannons and LRMs seems like a decent one as long as the pilot has good called shot skills.

Anyone finding the game a bit laggy? Not sure if it my system or the game but confirming actions (for example a refit) seems to take longer than it should and the game takes a long while to load a saved game.

yeah its an issue being worked on. I just finished the core campaign and oh god that was so much fun. once done the pheriphery opens up and you can do contracts anywhere you please. hell there's still shot tonnes of mechs/gear to go looking for and blow up.

best game I've played in years.

so there was an AMA over on reddit the other day, the future is looking good.

    • Game has been a big success. This means they are meeting soon for a 'roadmap' meeting to plan future content.

    • New content will take the form of DLC and FreeLC.

    • New content will include things like different encounter types (think battle, capture base, escort etc), some of these will be designed to increase the use of light and medium mechs late-game.

    • Other additions may include 'broader systemic gameplay, recurring enemies with grudges, contracts that aren't what they seem, and "unexpected events" in battles'

    • Looking to add to the post-game. Possibly harder missions, a map 'Domination' mode, enemy mechs with modded weapons and custom loadouts.

    • A Long War-esque (an X-com mod) options menu to change variables in the game (i,e ironman mode) to control difficulty is being considered. Other variables mentioned include 'CT destruction permanently destroys a mech, you need 5 pieces of salvage to reconstruct a mech, rather than 3, parts that get blown off a mech may lose slots or max armor capacity, etc.'

    • More random ship events which make use of mechwarrior tags, more Argo content and other additions to out-of-combat gameplay to come.

    • Technical performance issues are the top of their list of priorities and being worked on right now. FPS increase, ultrawidescreen compatibility issues etc. Press release coming soon.

    • They are working on cleaning up speed of animations and general dead time to speed up the game.

    • Linux support coming within a few months

    • Reinforcements appearing at the start of missions confirmed not a bug, but it's unexpected due to poor communication. Likely changes to the difficulty rating of missions though to make them more accurate.

    • Weapons are being rebalanced. In particular lostech weapons will get a boost.

    • Lostech weapons will be made available outside of the story campaign.

    • Urbanmechs are being made more common

    • Juggernaut skill (guts tree) is being looked at/redesigned

    • New mechs, including possible clan DLC may be coming but he is under NDA. 'We have plans' is all he could say. Most of the new content needs to be discussed first at the roadmap meeting.

    • Ability to sort mechs in the mechbay is being considered

    • No Land Air Mechs coming

    • High/low spirits bug- they are looking for the cause so they can fix it.

    • AOE weapons may or may not come. Friendly fire unlikely to be implemented as it wasn't fun in testing.

    • No plans to have players control more than one lance at a time. Additional lances may have 'off screen' effects.

    • There will be no friction with the modding community- they are free to do what they want. No plans for official modding support but individual engineers may be approached for help.

    • Paradox are in charge of localizing the game in other languages
    • Developer team of about 35 people spread across a few rooms. Only one animator (great job Hollie!)

    Greetings!

I would like a DLC with a shorter story and more content (mechs, weapons, Raven+ECM,...) and then a proper expansion with Clans.
A faster movement of mechs option would be enjoyable too (there is some tweak that speed things up).

Alongside Elite Dangerous, Battletech has been the best example of a Crowdfunding title that I've invested in - they've totally encapsulated the Battletech lore and game I remember playing as a kid.

It's just a shame they weren't allowed to incorporate some of the original mechs owing to an ongoing legal dispute over the copyright.

Cool beans, just be mindful that the tutorial is almost non existent and the learning curve can be steep if you're not familiar with the series.

Should be amusing then last proper battle tech games I played were Mech Commander, the MechWarrior series an the Battletech board game so Id imagine the "curve" will be akin to trying to climb the white cliffs of Dover in flip flops, sounds fun!

ah you'll be fine then, the only things you'll need to learn is the initiative, evasion and cover systems. in fact whilst you're downloading have a read of this, its a copy of the manual I got with the beta, pretty much covers everything you need to know.

Very handy thanks, doesn't seem too bad the usual heat related issues, hoping in the later DLC paid an free we can get a possibly into the realms on the initial Clans invasions, Some Coms guards/Comstar stuff too? The initial invasions were only 14 years post when the game is set.
Still have to see what appears Im imagining more game modes an the legally locked mechs coming in first before we see silly things like Thor's, Madcats etc

tbh setting the game after the 3rd succession war is a sweet spot for everyone imo, 3025 is a favourite with the vets and its early on tech wise as to not completely overwhelm new people joining the franchise. hopefully harmany gold will be told to **** off again soon like they were when they went after HBS for designs that they themselves done even own and then we can get some classic chassis in. god i want a warhammer.
