Mixed feelings, changing things as usual.

Although I've played bf1 alot and still am it didn't have that battlefield feel, hope this does.

Glad premium is getting the boot though.

Battlefield seems to have lost it's way for me. I played BF1, but it had less hours than any other BF game I played. Bring back the original BF and bring back 2142.

Maybe I am getting older, maybe I am loosing love for games, or maybe they have it wrong.

Yeah watched the trailer. Didn't grab me straight away, will wait to see more.

Great to hear they're dumping Premium Pass, expansion packs and that you can't but advancements in kit - you havd to work for them.

Is that Battlefield 2 or Battlefront 2?

    BF3, Bad Company 2 and BF2142 I loved, BF4 I liked eventually, Hardline and 1 didn't grab me.

    As for this one
"In Battlefield 5, every player will be able to outfit and customize a number of different soldiers in their stable, referred to as the Company."

I expect this mean they're going to make people buy player character slots and limit the number or type of loadouts each one can have. That's my prediction at least. Their press release guff about having 'multiple versions of the same weapon' per character fills me with dread too, instead of altering loadouts between spawns it sounds awfully like you will need to unlock rifle #1 multiple times to outfit it differently, or no doubt spend £2.50 to get another slot straight away. Without lootboxes EA are going to be hunting some other way to ensnare the weak minded.

They haven't expressly said that loot boxes won't be in the game at all either, only that gameplay affecting items will only be available through gameplay, so cosmetics could still be randomised. Until this game's out and we know what level of BS EA are pulling I'm not considering buying it, it says a lot about gaming at the moment that I would welcome a season pass because it's a simple pricing structure.

Battlefield. Battlefront was the start of the demise of the franchise imo - once they started cutting features from the 'field games and merging the 2 franchises together, I stopped being interested.

I actually quite liked 2142, it was just a sci-fi mod of BF2, but as soon as I found out BF3 wouldn't have a Commander function, drastically reduced specialisations in kits, COD-style loadouts etc, I knew where it was going.

One of the biggest draws of BF2 for me was the fact you had 7 kits, all with very specific jobs, with a perfect squad system, being supported and overseen by a commander. That and the weapons all being the same (like-for-like, I mean - an AK-47 was an AK-47), was a level playing field. Being really good at it probably adds a bit of bias too (though with over 5000 hours game time, you'd hope so!) - memories of going 60-1 on Sharqi Peninsula with a DAO-12, pretty much single-handedly keeping the enemy's attack chopper out of the sky with my SRAW and causing their tank drivers to repeatedly accuse me of hacking, because I kept hot-swapping to dead Spec-Ops kits to ninja C4 them, before swapping back to my AT kit and continuing my shotgun rampage, will live on forever :D

its getting far to bombastic, Michael bay and far from any form of realism.

I feel llike BF has been going down hill after BF3. Also V is a massive miss opportunity to go Vietnam which is a war i love games and films wise. It also would be more suiting the high customization they are trying to push where the regular solders in nam did have more freedom to custom there kit and load out.

WW2 everyone had strict uniform and weapon regulations just like today.

I had fun upto and in a way including BF4. BF1 bored me to no end, and i cannot endure what will most likely be a reskin of BF1 in the upcoming BF V.

Indeed, modern AAA military games are turning into walking simulators directed by Michael Bay.
Seriously, you just go from a to b mowing down trivial goons to look at set piece explosion at b, then go from b to c mowing down trivial goons to look at set piece helicopter crash at c and so on...

I was sceptical after the trailer... But watching gameplay and feedback from YT'ers that I trust, I am quite positive about this...
I DO enjoy BF1, and the changes they're making in BFV seem to be in line with what I want.

It's an EA game, so it's rubbish until proven otheriwse.

EA is very good at showing influencers what they want them to see and keeping the cracks hidden. The run up to Battlefield 4 springs to mind with people like Jackfrags and Levelcap being given access to flawlessly reliable builds in controlled environments, it looked amazing until it was actually released. Battlefront 2's release went pretty similarly too, a lot of talk about how the expansions would all be free, very little talk about how the entire thing had been balanced around lootboxes to compensate.

They seem to be doing the same again now. I'm seeing lots of talk about how they won't monetise it, but very little about how they will, which given EA's love of interfering with the game for the sake of pushing extra purchases fills me with dread. I still don't believe that the game won't contain lootboxes at all, they might separate weapons and outfits into gmaeplay and gambling based unlock paths, but they're still going to be there.

Yeah look - I am not rushing to pre-order.
As far as I am concerned, the one TERRIBLE Battelfield was BF4. The rest were OK. I don't play particularly seriously, and I play on Console - that may change things a little.

That all said - they're not getting my pre-order.

Bf4 on console is like ordering a cheeseburger with neither cheese nor meat.

It got to be very good on PC, but it took them over a year to get it mostly working. In true DICE tradition it never got more than mostly working.
