Other What's ruining your life right now?

I've worked from home for the last 10 years, shorts, flip flops and a T shirt are basically business casual for me year round

In this heat, you're lucky if you catch me in anything more than boxer briefs.

 

Sign of a good night when you have to follow a paper trail to your memories.

 

'Why are you in boxers at your computer?'
'I AM WA...WORKING!!!!'

 

The worst one usually is checking your bank account in the morning to see how much you spent. However we'd budgeted for more than twice the number of people that actually showed up, so when the free drinks tokens ran out they opened a tab at the bar. Probably explains why I was out from ~5pm to 3am and only spent £20 (not including the taxi).

Sadly I did not forget that I did karaoke - I really wish I could forget that.

 

Yeah, dreaming of a better takeaway.

...and better beer - I'm fresh out of Doom Bar and forced to dip into last month's BBQ leftovers - ButtWiper, king of beers apparently. Tastes like lager to me.

 

I am constantly relieved that smartphones weren't about for some of my life - the ability to forget or convince yourself something never happened is very underrated.

I don't usually gauge drinks by their names but even that would cause me pause for thought.

 

And yet, still somehow the best of the American lagers.

Which, I admit, does not say much.

Some years ago I won 6 bottles in a quiz. Opened and tried one, tipped most of it down the sink and the remaining bottles went in the bin.

 

I don't think I've tried many, so I'll take your word for it. Why do they call it beer though, is lager not in the American dictionary?

Tbfh, most lagers taste the same to me. The ones that stand out, IMO, are Red Stripe, Corona (Because it's so easy to drink, not because it particularly tastes of anything), Tyskie (Because it tastes of something. Even if that something is petrol), and Budvar (Because it tastes kind of like something, and sticks a big middle finger up to US Budweiser in the EU).

The yanks are getting into non-lager beers - Stone Brewing has a variety of beers that're popular in some states. Arrogant ******* seems to have fallen by the wayside as a name, though. I guess because they got bigger, and it's harder to market.

 

Staropramen was the lager-ish beer of choice... not because it's any good but because it usually only comes in bottles... made it harder to tamper with...

...not that i don't ****ing trust any of the local bars or anything.

Overall though really not a beer person. Though i don't totally hate the hispter guinness lager stuff.

 

IMO, if beer isn't in bottles it tastes line tin, and if it's in bottles, it should really be brown bottles.

I don't refuse to drink tinnies, but I feel much more like a teenager when I do.

Tins are normally lined with plastic so the beer doesn't come into contact with metal. Beer is fairly acidic, it's normally brewed in stainless steel vats so it doesn't dissolve what it's being brewed in.

 

I agree, bottles only for drinking at home. Not bought beer in a tin for, err, decades!

 

Indeed - However, it doesn't change the fact that you're jamming your face onto the uncoated side. Honestly, if tins didn't make things taste weird, I'd not have a problem with them. They're much more convenient than bottles for a number of reasons. My recycling bin would be less 'full' every two weeks if there were 24 cans rather than 24 bottles in it.

 

Yeah, prefer bottles by far to tins.

That said you can go too far the other way.

My GF ordered an overpriced cider the other day that was brought to her in a glass after going through some half baked faff. It included some sort of bag collection from an alter of the cider king, some prayers, twig wafting over the ground it was to pass over and no doubt a sacrifice of some sort.

Needless to say it tasted crap. Expensive crap.
