Can confirm. Even though I'm Portuguese, I lived in London from when I was 5 until I was 12 and pretty much kept my accent.
But yeah, Americans are definitely super friendly, more so than most people (including myself previously) think.

They’re super friendly and generally have such a positive attitude towards almost anything.

I’ve definitely noticed a big change in my attitude since I moved here. Life is just so much easier when you’re positive towards others and receive it from others too.

Nope - don't care for the State. There's nothing of interest there for me. :D

    Steer clear of it.

Trying to make some quick dosh, I helped out my landlord yesterday take down the rustiest scaffolding I've ever seen and been on. That was up there as one of the more dangerous things I've done in my life. Now my back is killing me.

Screwed up the installation of my water butt, and it was overflowing. Made a neat job the first time, but it's a right mess now thanks to being in a rush to get back to work (and being cack 'anded.) Still, with a bit more out of the downpipe to shift the diverter down and a spare slab (NEVER THROW ANYTHING AWAY DAMMIT) under the butt (fnarr-fnarr) to lift it up, I'm hoping it's all good.

Just got to wait for the next rain now!

I got absolutely drenched this morning. Lying ******* of a weather app told me it was going to be 'light showers' so I didn't bother with the "big boy" waterproofs, I stuck with my bike jeans. That was not a light shower, that was as close to a monsoon as we see in this country.

Imagine wearing normal every day jeans when they're wet; now imagine that those jeans use much heavier denim, have armour in the knees & hips, and have an inner kevlar lining; now imagine those jeans getting utterly soaked through and having to wear them for at least 5 hours with no way to dry them off.

Oh, and the pinlock system in my visor died. Tried to take out the film insert to properly dry everything off and one of the pins snapped in half.

But at least I worked from home this afternoon, so I've got that going for me at least.

No, it is not fun! :)

Also on topic: Some sort of shenanigans going on with some of the servers I'm supposed to be on call for; no callout has actually been raised, but scheduled jobs are going apes*** and my email was going berserk. Logging in at 11pm on a Friday night - when there's no actual call out - was not something I had in mind. You're god damn right I'm gonna claim this as a callout.

At least you get to register it as a call out!

It's damn near one am, and I've -just- started the public folder migration. Woooo...

Damn right, I'm a developer; we shouldn't have to put up with this "operational support" crap, especially when it interrupts beer o'clock on a Friday night! Don't we pay helldesk helpdesk people to do this stuff?*

*Of course this is a windup. What actually pisses me off is that this was a routine maintenance thing and that it was all under control. But because the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, I had absolutely no knowledge that the servers I'm looking after might go a little bit batsh** for a couple of hours - so I end up wasting an hour or so chasing non-existent problems.
