Howdy My MD asked me if I know why his messages to his daughter weren't going through (cause this is what I'm paid for...…….(I'm not) but the issue is now becoming annoying. He has an iPhone and his daughter has an iPhone. When we sent a message it only tries to send as test message (green). I've deleted her contact and re-added. I've reset network settings. Turned off iMessage. She now has a new phone and it's still not working. What more can I try? Cheers
Do you mean SMS messages, are sent from the Dad but the daughter never gets them? What happens if he voice calls her and vice versa? If SMS and voice are not working then her new phone is missing its APN settings for the mobile phone operator. You can get the mobile operator to send these to the phone normally via their online portal or a phone call. Or you can add manaully. Normally APN settings are automatically added to the phone when it first registers itself on the operator network for the first time.
Yeah, phones sends as SMS as default but it should be iMessage No problems calling. In case I didn't make sense at first, this issue happened on the old phone and still the new one.
As I understand it, imessage works through a link back to the Apple ID. Does one or other not have their phone number linked to their Apple ID? The other question of course is whether each of them can iMessage other people?
iMessages work to other people fine and so does text, it's only to his daughter that isn't getting any messages, they don't even attempt to go as iMessage and the text just fails with the red explanation mark
If I had to guess, I'd say she, or a friend, has blocked the number. Bet you a fiver to the charity of the winner's choice that's what's happened.
Take both phones to an apple store, this is going to be one of those “impossible to diagnose over the internet’ type of problems
I've asked to get hold of the daughters phone, I don't fancy taking a 16 year old girls phone off her! Might see if he'll take her shopping and pop to the Apple store
Remove her phone number from the contact and put the email address she uses for her Apple ID, can you iMessage now?
At this rate I guess he'll never be able to speak to his daughter! Dreading he asks me to go round, middle of bloody knowhere off the M62 before Leeds
I don't know if it's in anyway the same thing, but one of the girls at work had a problem with her android phone after upgrading and importing contacts, she could call people perfectly fine but with certain people she was unable to send messages even though calling wasn't a problem, took ages to find out why and it turned out that it was an issue with how the number was 'stored' all the ones that she couldn't send messages to had a random space at the end, no idea why or how but just deleting the numbers from the contacts and re-typing them solved the problem. Obviously, this was an android issue but it might be worth just checking
