I "project" that Intel is quietly busy crapping their pants if they're directly acknowledging AMD's presence.

I also "project" that my phone is faster than Cascade Lake*

*Projections based on a Cascade Lake part running a single-core exclusively in Real Mode

The average Rome buyer will surely disable half the cores as well as SMT, right? Right?

Unless you already own a datacentre that is running custom multi-Xeon boards (e.g. OCP), is full, and has no room for expansion (e.g. no nearby ground, insufficient grid power) then you probably won't ever see one of these. I wouldn;t be surprised if they are BGA parts rather than in some gargantuan LGA socket.
Depends on how wary of the various SMT vulnerabilities the user is.

When’s this coming? 2022? When they finally get their 10nm process working?

Good job, Intel. Another panic announcement with nothing for your showing. It’s getting old.

Talking of glue, AMD has talked about Rome some more... while the 64 cores are no surprise (as they had announced that part all the way back when they announced 1st gen Epyc), AMD has actually gone out of the way to reinvent the wheel ehh glue when it comes to connecting cores...

Will be interesting to see if it can beat Intels glue.
